About this property

When you close your eyes and think of the French Alps, you'll likely be transported to a world of pristine beauty, snow-shrouded mountains and a very Christmassy feel that's hard to find anywhere else. This is undoubtedly the land of eternal winter, sensational skiing opportunities, marvellous mountains and lovely chalets. You might also think of food; tangy dipping fondu, gooey raclette and crozets are just some examples. Or perhaps you conjure up images of hearty cups of cocoa, quirky terraced restaurants and pulling back the curtains to see the snowfall. This is a world of adventure, romance and beauty, and it's waiting for you. Your closest ski lift is Adret, and your closest ski slope is Doron.

Welcome to your apartment Grive, a flat that boasts plenty of character. Based in Méribel, you're located on the first floor of a residence with an elevator. You're conveniently positioned only 300 metres from the ski slopes but also very close to the town centre, where a very different type of action awaits you. Here you can enjoy many shops, restaurants and bars, and importantly, purchase your ski passes. At the very bottom of the building, you'll find a shuttle bus stop to help you get about easily.

The style of the flat is known as Savoyard, which is typical of the area. This style is defined by old light wood that permeates every room. This elevates an inviting sense of warmth and cosiness that is very appealing. This wooden motif sneaks into everything from the walls to items of furniture and decorations. And the style is determined to make sure you don't forget that you're in the mountains.

This apartment is about making you feel at home with its soothing, warming fabrics in lively colours and patterns that flourish throughout chalets and apartments across the Alps.

The apartment contains a living room, dining room and open kitchen, complete with a balcony, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's easy to spend quality time with family here or to enjoy a gathering as a group of friends. The space is perfect for a party of five.

The décor is reminiscent of Christmas with its warming woods, festive reds, muted greys and snowy whites. Just part those curtains to see the bewitching view that lies beyond – the lush and astonishing expanse of mountains that is the Alps. You'll notice a heart motif in the wooden fencing of the terrace – this is just one of the sweet touches that makes this such a pleasant home. The communal space is ideal for preparing meals, enjoying time together at the table and relaxing those sore ski session muscles on the sofa! It's a space for bringing people together.

The bedrooms are clean and crisp and resemble the snowscape outside, with white as the central colour and the wooden framework lending warmth. You may find yourselves fighting over the bathtub, especially after a day on the slopes!

The Alps are an entity of their own. Tall and dominating, they call to be conquered. And many skiers and snowboarders attempt just that. The Alps also have a siren call to romantic souls who enjoy the fresh, clean air, the consistent winter snowfall and the decadent draping of snow during the ski season that gives that satisfying underfoot crunch. They also urge you to seek out cosiness from the cold – perhaps warming up by wandering around the villages and hamlets of the area, enjoying a meal in a bar or restaurant or unwinding by the fireplace.

Mistaking that you've suddenly become lost inside a snow globe is easy. The charm and energy of the area are palpable, and if visiting during ski season, you'll find that winter is front and centre. No longer a season to be hidden from and avoided but one to celebrate and revel in. This is winter at its most dramatic and whimsical.

This apartment is based in Méribel, a central area that makes a perfect hub, especially if you want shops, bars and restaurants at your disposal. Méribel holds the title of the world's largest ski resort, so there's plenty to do here whether you're a veteran, beginner, or somewhat intermediate. Part of what makes Méribel so appealing, even to hardened skiers, is that variety and novelty are still very much part of the slopes here. There are over 300 marked runs, 28 fun runs, 160 ski lifts and 62,000 metres of cumulative vertical drops. And the surrounding beauty is something to behold – wild, looming mountains that tower toward the sky.

Méribel runs across three vast interlocking valleys. It's an appealing place to learn the ropes as over half of the pistes are designed for beginners and marked with blue or green flags signifying that they're new-skier friendly. But for those who've conquered the mountain many a time before, there are runs marked with red flags that present a new challenge.

Because of the vast expanse before you, we'd encourage you to pick out some pistes or routes you'd like to experience so that time (and tired muscles) don't thwart your plans.

Away from the slopes is the peaceful oasis of Méribel village, where you can enjoy gallivanting about the enchanting chalets, exploring the small chapel and peaking into the bread oven. There are two restaurants, a bakery, a mini market and a bar in the area, too, with opportunities to purchase ski passes.

Eleven resorts are dotted across the three valleys, Courchevel, Bride-les-Bains, Les Menuires, Saint-Martin-de-Belleville, Val Thorens and Orelle. You can make your way from one to 11 on your skis which is well worth doing as each area has something unique to offer.

The atmosphere and energy of Méribel is contagious. It's full of families, bustle and adrenaline. There's a real buzz as people face their fears and push past their inhibitions.
