On County Clare's west coast, Kilkee is a charming seaside town that overlooks a mile-long horseshoe bay with a safe and sandy Blue Flag beach shielded from the Atlantic by the Duggerna Reef, which spans the bay's opening. Bathing and swimming can be enjoyed at any time of the tide in Kilkee, making it the safest Irish beach. Every week during the summer holidays, the Kilkee Surf School offers surf camps at Kilkee and Doughmore beaches for kids aged 9 to 16. Another option is Waterworld. It's no wonder that Waterworld is a popular indoor water park year-round, with a variety of attractions like the "lazy river ride," "61-meter crystal tower slide," and the Thalassotherapy Center, which offers various sea-based therapies, alongside its many indoor water attractions. On the way to George's Head, the 18-hole championship golf course stretches along the cliffs, where there are numerous cliff-side walks that are truly breathtaking. Locally caught fish and shellfish can be found in Kilkee's cafes and restaurants, and its pubs and lounge bars frequently host live music competitions, traditional Irish nightly events, cabaret, dancing, and pub theatre. Among the nearby attractions is Carrigaholt, where visitors can watch dolphins, as well as scuba diving, birdwatching, and horseback riding. A wide variety of options are available for everyone.

The weather was kind so caught a beautiful sunrise from the cottage. There are 3 large bedrooms so plenty of room for families. Recommend the gorgeous cliff walks close by. The town has a lovely beach and all the facilities you need. Good base to explore Co Clare and Wild Atlantic Way. Tom and Margaret are fantastic hosts, making sure you have everything needed. Would definitely recommend.

At a couple of minutes drive outside the town, it's close enough to quickly pop in to the beach, but removed enough to have some peace and solitude also. The property is generously spacious inside, with lots of outside space to park cars and for kids to play also, it was just right for us. We loved our visit and look forward to coming again. The hosts were very responsive to anything that arose and were just lovely people, to them we say thank you for sharing your lovely property with us, and see you again soon hopefully!
