Nestled on a hillside between Benissa and the coast, Villa Celso overlooks wooded valleys and is surrounded by the big blue Costa Blanca sky. This small but perfectly formed private villa and pool has the best of both worlds.
Set five kilometres inland in a peaceful, residential corner of Benissa, you’re away from the hustle and bustle of the coast. Yet a few minutes’ drive and you’ll find your nearest beaches, coves and town centre.
Sleeping four people, Villa Celso is adorably rotund, and all your accommodation is on one level. The living-dining room has pleasing curved walls, exposed beams and large windows from where you can admire your incredible view. The light floods in, making this relaxing space bright and restful. The kitchen, bedrooms and bathrooms are very nicely decorated and all have a modern, fresh feel. The generous master bedroom has its own en-suite.
Step outside from the dining room and you’re on the gravelled terrace where you can choose to take morning coffee and watch the day wake up across the valleys and hills of this pretty corner of Costa Blanca. Or share locally grown olives and a glass of Cava before dinner. Bliss.
A staircase takes you down to the pool terrace, and from here you really can appreciate your location. What a view – and you’re surrounded by it! Your fabulous pool area is bedecked with tables, chairs and sun loungers. And the luxury of having a private pool, just waiting for you whenever you choose to use it is too much to resist! A refreshing morning swim, a family splash-about or a cooling dip in the heat of the afternoon.
An additional and wonderful feature at Villa Celso is tucked away in the corner of the pool terrace. The barbecue is in a covered outdoor kitchen, protecting the valiant chef from the Mediterranean sun. This and the outdoor shower completes the perfect set-up for outdoor living here at Villa Celso. If you can tear yourself away, beyond your private villa and pool lies amazingly lush, green countryside for you to explore. And just a few minutes in the car, you’ll arrive at Cala de la Fustera centre with supermarket, shops, restaurants and a white sandy beach.
Your spectacular view at Villa Celso is a constant reminder of its wooded and hilly setting. From your door you can take a hiking trail into the countryside to spot fruit trees, pine trees, rose and lavender. The cooling sea breeze blows up from the coast. Combined with the perfumes of these Mediterranean trees it’s called the Llebeig, adding a lovely, fragrant dimension to your walk.
Drive five kilometres to the coast to Cala de la Fustera, where you’ll find a choice of restaurants, shops, a supermarket and a perfect white sandy beach. It’s set in a small cove, so the sea is calm, clear and ideal for swimming. From the marina, you can have a go at water skiing, windsurfing, snorkelling and sailing.
Further up the coastline is Moraira, an upmarket coastal town with tree-lined shopping streets and an old market square. If you want to sample freshly-caught seafood, the marina here is lined with restaurants where you can stop for lunch and watch the world go by.
Go south for Calpe (la Fustera is almost equidistant between here and Moraira), a much livelier tourist hotspot and home to Penon de Ifach – the iconic limestone rock towering over the bay at 332 metres high.
Another fifteen minutes’ drive further inland brings you to Benissa. This ancient town is a sightseeing must during your stay. Its medieval streets, old houses with iron-worked balconies, Moorish influences and traditional Spanish food all make for a delightful day out. On the way home, be sure to marvel at the panoramic views as the steep winding roads lower you down towards the coast.
Golfers are spoilt for choice generally on the Costa Blanca, but there are several golf courses within thirty minutes’ drive of Villa Celso. Club de golf Ifach is your nearest at San Jaime.

The villa was lovely. The pool is just big enough to have a little swim in and we enjoyed having it so much, especially with the view. The villa is nicely situated and on the whole well maintained. Checking in was really easy and the staff at the villa rental location were friendly and helpful. They would have come and fixed a couple of small issues that we brought to their attention (only to avoid being charged for them) but they were too minor to bother about so we told them there was no need, but communication with them was quick and simple. The area is great but you do need a car to explore. Some fantastic restaurants around. The driveway is on a very steep slope and it took us a week to figure out that we could park just inside the gates and not have to drive all the way up and reverse out each day!
