About this property

This cosy and characterful end of terrace cottage sits one mile from the central facilities of St Austell in a residential area handy for local shops, and a little further from the beach and harbour at charismatic Charlestown with galleries, inns and restaurants beside the sea. This retreat makes the perfect romantic bolt hole for couples, or an ideal holiday for family and friends seeking a cottage for both country, town and coastal capers. The accommodation is well-presented throughout with a homely and comfortable interior. The living room is charming with a woodburner to relax aside during those cooler stays, with dining area for social gatherings. The kitchen is modern and the first floor hosts two bedrooms and a bathroom. The rear garden has a decked area, lawn and summerhouse - a sunny spot for children and pets to play, and to relax and dine alfresco in the sunshine. At the end of the garden there is a small path that connects to the adjoining property. The neighbours have access to the path only to reach the property, the garden is private. The beaches at Charlestown, Pentewan and Carylon Beach in St Austell Bay are all within a very short drive and boast a mix of scenic sea, quay and sandy shores for swimming and boating. The historical Tall Ships at Charlestown are a must see experience in the original Grade II Listed harbour - where TV's Poldark has been filmed. The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Eden Project and the Polperro heritage coastline for clifftop rambles wih super seascapes are all adventures to be had nearby.

Just a short drive from the pretty south Cornish coast, St Austell is one of the largest towns in Cornwall. The landscape around St Austell is rich in kaolin (china clay) and this once made the region extremely prosperous. Today, the china clay industry is in decline and tourism has become the mainstay of income for St Austell and its surrounding parishes. St Austell town centre is home to a range of independent and well-known shops, an undercover shopping centre and a Local Produce Market, which takes place every Friday and Saturday. There is also a range of excellent restaurants, cafes and inns – from traditional country pubs to 2 AA rosette fine dining. Just outside St Austell is the iconic Eden Project, as well as the award-winning Lost Gardens of Heligan, Kidzworld, and the Wheal Martyn China Clay Museum. There are some beautiful beaches in this area, too – many with good kayaking conditions – and many miles of coastal footpath to explore. The mainly traffic-free Pentewan Cycle Trail runs from St Austell to Pentewan; here you can enjoy a bite to eat at the village pub or beach burger shack before making your return journey to St Austell. One of St Austell’s main events is the Torchlight Carnival which takes place each November – and of course, the World Pasty Championships, which are held at the Eden Project each March!
