About this property

Nestled on the outskirts of the charming village of Bourton-on-the-Water in Gloucestershire is Field View Cottage. This delightful, detached cottage benefits from a spectacular and private location in the picturesque Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty as well as a welcoming interior, ample off road parking, an enclosed garden and two beautifully-presented bedrooms; the perfect choice for friends, small families or couples looking to explore all Gloucestershire has to offer. After a day full of exploration, cross the threshold into your new home-from-home and venture straight into the living/dining room where you can unwind on the plush sofas in front of the TV before heading into the fully-equipped kitchen to make a start on dinner. Sample your culinary creations around the dining table before heading outside to savour the last light of the evening with a glass of wine on the patio; on colder nights snuggle up in front of the TV in the snug for a well-earned movie night. When the evening draws to a close, travel upstairs to wash off the day in the bathroom ahead of sloping off to sleep in either of the sumptuous double bedrooms; one of which boasts a sleek en-suite shower room and handy dressing room. If you can tear yourself away from this idyllic setting, take a short walk into the heart of the village where you can stock up on all of your self-catering essentials at local stores or treat your loved ones to a break from the kitchen with a delicious meal at The Rose Tree Restaurant, Kingsbridge or The Dial House. While in the village be sure to stop off at the Cotswold Motoring Museum and The Model Village or enjoy leisurely strolls along the River Windrush which runs through its heart. Other must-see, nearby attractions include the National Trust sites of Chastleton House, the impressive Snowshill Manor and the historic Chedworth Roman Villa. Hiking, walking and cycling are also in abundance in the AONB offering routes through charming villages or trails overlooking the English countryside. All this and more awaits at Field View Cottage.

Bourton-on-the-Water, a village in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, has been inhabited since the Neolithic era and features more than 100 structures that are Grade II listed or higher. Bourton-on-the-Water is sometimes compared to Venice because of its scenic high street, which runs parallel to the River Windrush and is crossed by a number of small stone bridges. Every year in the summer, locals and tourists flock to the banks of the River Windrush to watch a football game with the stated purpose of scoring as many goals as possible and getting as wet as possible. The Model Village, the Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens, the Dragonfly Maze, the monthly farmers' market, the many tea rooms, the artisan bakery, the antiques and craft markets, the traditional sweet shop, the bicycle hire, and the perfumery are just a few of the many tourist attractions in the village. Stow-on-the-Wold is a nearby village that represents classic England. It was built on the site of an Iron Age fort. Fairs have been held in this historic marketplace since the 12th century, and events like the Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs, and a monthly farmers' market are still going strong today. The village stocks stand at one end of the enormous market square, while antique stores, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants, and a cricket museum line the other side. Take a journey to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens, located in the historic town of Burford. Moreton-in-Marsh, a Saxon market town, and Broadway, a quintessentially English village, are both easily accessible and would make wonderful day trips. Cheltenham is known for its annual horse racing event in March, which is highlighted by the Gold Cup steeplechase, and for its architectural excellence as the most complete Regency town in England. Oxford is the oldest university city in England and is also known as The City of Dreaming Spires due to its abundance of illustrious attractions, such as the university's 38 colleges (half of which were founded before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, the Ashmolean Museum, the Pitt Rivers Museum, and the Botanic Gardens. The cities of Stratford upon Avon, Bath, Worcester, and Gloucester, a port city, are all within driving distance.

Perhaps be helpful to include in property description that approach is narrow with very few passing places and not suitable for low clearance cars due to speed humps.

So many wonderful places to visit nearby. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

The beds were comfortable with crisp white bedding and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Huge garden and lots of outside space. Would definitely stay again.
