The property is situated within the grounds of the main house and picturesque gardens. It would make a perfect base for couples and has plenty of walks nearby. Although feeling like a haven away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, the nearest town of South Brent is 2¼ miles away, where you can get all of your amenities, and three fantastic restaurants are less than a 10-minute drive away. The town of Buckfastleigh is just 3 miles away and the neighbouring town of Ivybridge is just 8 miles away. Why not visit places such as the famous Buckfast Abbey, a working monastery where a community of Benedictine monks live self-sufficiently, welcoming people from all over the world.
Visit the Buckfast Butterfly Farm and Dartmoor Otter Sanctuary, or take the steam train from Buckfastleigh to the market town of Totnes where you can explore along the River Dart. The city of Plymouth is just 14 miles away with an abundance of things to do such as a visit to the National Marine Aquarium, and a whole host of shops, restaurants and bars.
Harbourneford is situated in the Dartmoor National Park, with many attractions including National Trust properties of Castle Drogo and the medieval house of Cotehele. I was greeted by the owner upon arrival and given a tour of where to find everything and how it all works. The cottage itself was immaculate and well equipped for everything I could need during my stay. The facilities in particular were ideal - the bathroom very well presented and views from the cottage are uninterrupted. All in all, will very much be returning.

Umber House is perfect. It is set is the most amazing grounds, that are so idyllic. Having been recently renovated to a very high standard, the cottage has everything you could need. The owners, John and Margaret are the prefect hosts, there if you need them, but otherwise they leave you to a peaceful holiday. There was even a very generous welcome pack waiting for us when we arrived. We would highly recommend Umber House to anyone wanting a holiday base in this part of Devon. We will definitely return.
