The Bull Pen sleeping up to 2 guests

This luxurious barn conversion makes a great base for exploring Constable Country and the stunning scenery that was the artists inspiration.
S81465 is a lovingly restored barn conversion in the delightful village of Lawford close to the Suffolk and Essex borders. Ideally placed to explore both counties whilst enjoying a luxurious base, comprising open plan living space and wood burner, with views across the surrounding fields from the patio area. This is a detached, single-storey conversion making it ideal for those less mobile. Situated in the grounds of the owner’s home, you are tucked away in a corner and will enjoy all day sunshine from its south facing aspect.
Close by you will find Dedham, set by the River Stour which is in the heart of Constable Country. The high street is lined with Georgian fronted houses, old inns, fine restaurants and superb architecture. The Stour Valley itself is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and perfect for walks and drinking in the landscape, famous for inspiring the artist John Constable. You can also hire a boat, visit the many art exhibitions or the impressive Dedham church, a 15th-century church that stands proud in the middle of the village.
Further north is Colchester, the oldest recorded town in Britain, where some of the most important events in British history have taken place. As you walk through the town there is 2000 years of history to discover, mixed with shops, restaurants and attractions. A short drive to the east you will find the quintessential British seaside towns of Frinton-on-Sea and Walton-on-the-Naze. Beach 15 miles. Shop 1¼ miles, pub and restaurant 3 miles.

    david – 19 Oct 2018
"High end accommodation in the most Peaceful and private location, overlooking a lovely garden. Beyond is a farmer’s field. S81465 is an imaginatively converted farm outbuilding and is full of charm."
    Barbara – 16 Sep 2018
"A wonderfully cosy, well-equipped cottage that was a joy to stay in. Helen, the owner, was helpful and friendly, there if we needed her but she didn't impose. The garden was a delight during the day and the lack of light pollution meant a wonderful night sky. The bed was large and comfortable which ensured a good night's sleep. We've stayed in many holiday cottages and this was one of the best."
    John – 18 Aug 2018
"This is probably the nicest cottage we have ever stayed in. The cottage was decorated very nicely and with good quality furnishings. Some lovely touches included a cake and real flowers on arrival. The property is located next to the owner's house but is very private with its own garden overlooking fields."
    Jane – 1 Jul 2018
"Beautiful surroundings , freshly decorated and very well equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable stay. S81465 is welcoming and immaculate with some thoughtful touches like fresh flowers and a homemade cake on arrival. The gardens are very pretty and we spent some happy hours sitting and enjoying the surroundings. The 'House Book' provides information on the equipment in the cottage and the many good resturants in the area. There are maps and information leaflets of interesting places to explore within easy reach."
    Trevor – 23 Jun 2018
"Great cottage.high standard for everything.Location on google totally wrong. Needs sorting out."
    david – 8 May 2018
"Top quality of accommodation in every respect."
    Zain – 7 Apr 2018
"We had an amazing week here. Location is perfect and secluded but not too far from civilization. Very relaxing and a very beautiful garden. Would definitely stay again!"
    Paul – 3 Mar 2018
"Excellent cottage, I stayed here during the 'Beast from the East' and there are not many holiday cottages that would have kept me so warm and comfortable. Very well equipped whatever time of the year you are staying and an interesting part of the country to visit. The lane and track to the cottage were a bit of a challenge in the snow but would not be a problem any other time of year and the rural nature of the cottage would be a bonus."
    Anna – 4 Jan 2018
"This was one of the nicest holidays we have had. The owner was lovely and so helpful and showed us how everything worked. The whole place was lovely and clean and warm. We had little treats when we got there and they even set up a Christmas tree. The place was perfect and I would absolutely recommend this lovely place. Manningtree which is a bout 10 mins away is a really lovely place to go and visit with lovely restaurants."
