. Situated besides the picturesque River Duddon, one of Wordsworth’s favourite places, Whistling Green allows easy access to the lakes of Windermere and Coniston. This comfortable wing of the owner’s traditional Cumbrian farmhouse, set in half an acre of shared grounds, is surrounded by open moorland with grazing sheep and wonderful views up the valley. The area offers fell walking, sailing and riding at Coniston, the Ravenglass & Eskdale Railway and an exhilarating drive over Hardknott Pass to visit the Roman Fort and much more. Families will enjoy the sand and shingle beach at Silecroft (8 miles). Fishing is available within 5 miles. Shop ½ mile, a local pub serving excellent food 3 miles up the valley.
The banister/balustrade height in this property is less than 1m and the gaps between the spindles on the staircase are more than 10cm. No children under 14 years old. There is a pond in the grounds.

Beautiful well equipped cottage, amazing scenery, short stroll to river, 10 minute drive to village shops. Bed was a bit hard, quite expensive for 2 people in peak season. But had an amazing holiday

Lovely rural property, in a great setting. We had a decent enjoyable stay. The bedding a bit on the uncomfortable side- we have usually had better mattresses at other holiday properties we have rented in the past. The thick winter duvets in August were also not ideal.Rest everything was fine.

Absolutely wonderful week at Whistling Green. Beautiful house in a stunning location. It was great to be just outside the busiest part of the Lakes and to be able to have the choice to be around people or not. For walkers you have the beautiful Duddon Valley available straight from the door. The use of the beautifully kept garden was great too. Lovely cottage in a lovely setting and a great week away.
