In Broughton in Furness there is a bakery, butchers, small grocery store and a choice of cafes and pubs. Walks from the door lead to the Broughton Railway Path and the Duddon Mosses Nature Reserve, a delightful place for a leisurely stroll. Enjoy a bracing walk along sand and pebble shores of the Duddon Estuary taking in the wide, open vistas at Haverigg Beach and Millom Beach, both within 9 miles. For those interested in local history, take trip to the ruins of Furness Abbey and the Dock Museum at nearby Barrow in Furness, 15 miles away. Take a cruise on Coniston Water, 12 miles away or hire rowing boats, sailing dinghies, canoes or kayaks from Coniston Pier. There are many walks to be had, from easy strolls around the lake to tackling the Old Man of Coniston not for the faint hearted! From the bunk room, a flight of stairs leads to the games room/snug with table football, books, board games and a TV with DVD along with a selection of DVDs, and four bean bags. Outside there is a quaint, enclosed yard with a table and chairs for al fresco dining. On street parking is available in front of the cottage and there's a secure shed in the yard for storing bikes.
