The cottage is nestled within a fairly secluded area, meaning that the local pub is 1.5 miles away and the closest shop is 7.5 miles. This area is ideal for walkers, with popular routes including the Old Man of Coniston, which is 3.7 mile walk where you will climb through old quarry workings and walk along Low Water, which is a perfect spot for a picnic. Alternatively, you can take a boat trip on the Windermere lake, for a unique experience of exploring the surrounding mountain peaks, the charming villages and woodland areas. For a spot of shopping, then the market town of Ulverston is nearby. Here you will find a good selection of independent shops, local business, cafés and pubs to enjoy. The Shippon is a delightful cottage, perfect for a romantic trip to explore the Lake District.

This small village is situated within the Southern end of the Lake District National Park. Within this village, you will find a community hall, a village pub and the stunning scenery of the Coniston Fells and Lowick Beacon. Further afield, is the town of Ulverston, situated 6 miles away, where you will find a good selection of shops, businesses, cafes and pubs to enjoy, in addition to attractions including the only Laurel and Hardy Museum and Ford Park.
