The National Trust - Tarn Hows is a must-see, especially in the fall when the leaves change colour, and the highlight of a visit to Coniston is undoubtedly the Coniston Old Man, a stunning mountain trail to walk in the area. On Coniston Old Man, Wetherlam, and the Grizedale Forest routes, you can stroll, mountain bike, and climb. For watersports enthusiasts, the calm lake is suitable for dinghy sailing and paddling. The less energetic can enjoy a leisure trip on the elegant steam boat 'Gondola' or explore Brantwood, the old home of John Ruskin.
