The local area of the cottage is an adventurers dream, with equal opportunities for relaxing too; sitting in easy reach of Coniston Water, here you can find wonderful walks along the beauty of the waters, or get up close to its beauty by hiring a rowing boat, or board the National Trust wonder of the Steam Yacht Gondola for an experience like no other. Sitting on the Western shores of the lake you can find the mountain of the Old Man of Coniston, home to a plethora of industrial archaeology, it's well-worth a ramble for its rewarding scenery. Once you've explored the local village with its good selection of shops and pubs offering delicious dining experiences, and not forgetting the wonder Ruskin Museum where you can learn about the history of the area and famed Donald Campbell and John Ruskin, venture out to Hawkshead to discover the National Trust owned Beatrix Potter Gallery, showcasing displays of Potter's much loved characters, this dwelling was once the office of her husband, now offering visitors a family-friendly attraction and easy access to Beatrix's own home, Hill Top. Windermere is worth visiting for its plethora of watersporting opportunities on its renowned lake, while Grizedale offers even more scenic splendour. Coniston is a pretty village sitting within the Lake District National Park, at the head of the scenic Coniston Water. Home to a good selection of local shops, as well as pubs which also serve delicious food, you can find everything you need here for a self-catered stay, as well as its own Ruskin Museum and the National Trust wonder of the Steam Yacht Gondola. With plenty of outdoor adventure and in easy reach of Ambleside, Windermere and Grasmere, Coniston is a beautiful base from which to explore Cumbria.
