Coniston, located at the top of Coniston Water, is surrounded by some of the most spectacular scenery in the Lake District National Park, making it an excellent travelling base, with Hawkshead, Ambleside, Windermere, and Grasmere a short drive away. Locally, Coniston Old Man and Wetherlam, as well as the wonderful forest paths in Grizedale Forest, offer excellent walking, mountain biking, and climbing opportunities.
