Old Mill Cottage sleeping up to 6 guests

This beautiful Lake District cottage is a converted former mill, set in a peaceful hamlet location. Its all-white exterior and sash windows create an idyllic country house scene, engulfed by craggy green fields and narrow, windy lanes, just 6 miles from Kendal. This cottage is perfect for families, friends and couples looking for a base to explore a different region of Cumbria. The interior boasts a traditional feel, brought together with stylish fixtures and thoughtful details peppering the rooms. Four bedrooms rest on the first floor, well-presented in soothing colours, offering a restful night's sleep. Refresh under a revitalising shower in the en-suite double before getting ready for the days adventures. Perhaps when you return after a long country walk, you may want to sink into the bathtub and luxuriate in a hot soak to soothe your aching muscles. The kitchen occupies modern fittings, yet retains some of its original features. An ornamental fireplace takes centre stage, complemented by a lovely farmhouse theme. The sitting room offers an elevated position on a raised platform. Here, you can gather around the woodburner on a cosy autumn night and relax into the plush sofa. Outside enjoys a glorious garden, with a plethora of wildlife flourishing among pretty flowers and shrubbery, to be enjoyed the year-round. A small pond is full of newts and frogs in the Spring and Summer. Take a seat on the sunny lawn and ooze in the tranquil atmosphere. Crook is a tiny hamlet with a pub in the south of the Lake District National Park. There are plenty of walking opportunities right from the doorstep, however for further attractions, is the nearby historic town of Kendal. With its reputation for shopping, old cobbled lanes and the stone ruins of its 12th century castle perched over the town, Kendal is a popular destination among tourists. Visit Kendal Museum and the Museum of Lakeland Life, the fascinating Quaker Tapestry, Lake Windermere and the wider National Park. The vibrant towns of Bowness and Windermere are less than fifteen minutes drive away and offer much appeal, with boat trips, gift shops, pubs and The World of Beatrix Potter attraction. There is also a variety of watersports on offer at marine centres along the lake. This countryside cottage, with so much on offer in the surrounding area, is perfect for you and your family.

Crook is a small hamlet located in the heart of Lakeland countryside and offers access to the Lake District National Park. Mrs Corrigan – 1 Nov 2019
" The cottage is clean, comfortable, cosy and very well equipped. The owners have thought of everything to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. The cottage is in a very peaceful location but is well placed for visiting the South Lakes and there is a dog friendly pub within walking distance. Definitely one of the best cottages we have stayed in. "
    Mr Walklate – 1 Oct 2019
" Excellent food pub in easy walking distance. "
    Mrs Rouse – 1 Sep 2019
" We couldn't have wished for better facilities or comfort. Half way between Kendal and Windermere it was ideally placed for us, a quick 6 mile run in either direction. The Sun Inn round the corner made really delicious meals. The village of Staveley 2 picturesque miles away came in handy for forgotten logs, wine, and paracetamol .... not necessarily in that order, and the field at the back of the house was an early morning treat for the dogs if a bit on the boggy side due to all the rain, perhaps you could organise some sunshine next time for us? The soggy weather was an excuse for a roaring fire on an evening, and sometimes in an afternoon too.. We wanted for nothing and we wish you many more years of doing business with as we would like very much to come again. A heartfelt thank you from Sue Daphne Gill and Bev. "
    Mr Seymour – 1 Aug 2019
" We've used Cottages a few times now and have never been let down with any of the cottages, keep up the good work. "
    Mr Pollard – 1 Aug 2019
" Lovely Cottage in a lovely part of the UK Old Mill Cottage is set in a beautiful rural location and the humans and the dogs were all made very welcome Equipped to the highest level with everything you could need for a relaxing holiday "
    Mrs Smith – 1 Jul 2019
" Nice little touches such as a basket with dog treats. Gifts of Kendal Mint Cake and shortbread were appreciated and a bunch of flowers from the garden on display in the dining room. Good peaceful location yet just 10 minutes to Kendal and the Lakes. Plenty of good places to eat locally. The garden was a delight .. so many birds and we filled the bird feeders twice during our weeks stay. "
    Mrs Baugh – 1 Jun 2019
" Cottage was exceptional and exceeded our expectations and a real credit to the owners. A great location for walking from the doorstep and a short drive to Kendal for provisions and a fantastic base to explore the Lakes and all that it has to offer. Garden was superb and ideal for relaxing. We couldn’t have asked for more and had a fantastic week. We would definitely stay again and recommend to others. "
    Mr Taylor – 1 May 2019
" Everything was there we needed, lots of information, comfortable, beautiful garden and perfect location. "
    Dr Russell – 1 Apr 2019
" Lots of walks from the door into countryside. Weather was superb and we were outdoors most of the week. "
    Ms Cowburn – 1 Feb 2019
" The cottage has been tastefully restored, keeping some original features that makes you want to look into the history of the mill. Everything is of high quality. The beds and bedding are fantastic. Everything is pretty and great attention to detail. On each bed was Kendal mint cake gift, and a welcome pack for humans and 4 legged friends in the kitchen. The cottage was spotlessly clean on our arrival and we wanted for nothing. The kitchen had plenty of utensils, pots pans etc. I often find this lacking in other holiday lets, and we like to cook fresh food. I can’t wait to return "
    Mr Corrigan – 1 Nov 2018
"The cottage is very clean, well equipped and comfortable. It has a very homely feel and the owners have gone to the trouble of providing a lot of little extras: dog treats and towels for muddy paws, toiletries, basic kitchen provisions to start the holiday off and more besides. The wood burner is very welcome for cold autumn nights and very easy to use. The furniture is very comfortable and perfect for sitting watching the many birds that visit the garden. The bedrooms are lovely with very comfortable beds and quality bed linen. One of the best cottages we have stayed in."
    Mr Mclaren – 1 Nov 2018
"Very well equipped property where the owners have really capitalised on the original features and complemented them with lovely decor, pictures etc."

"Dog friendly and able to use the garden to sit, eat and drink. Everything u needed was in the cottage. The little touches the owners did was lovely especially the dog basket which was left for our use."
    - Mrs Barrigan, January 2019
"We were made to feel so welcome with complimentary biscuits for all, towels etc for muddy paws, Kendal mint cake to sample! We found the cottage a great base for visiting all the lakes attractions as we celebrated our son’s second birthday during our stay. Everything we needed to make it feel like a home from home. We didn’t want to leave. Thanks for a lovely week!"
    - Mr Mclaren, November 2018
"Very well equipped property where the owners have really capitalised on the original features and complemented them with lovely decor, pictures etc. The kitchen/utility rooms were particularly well equipped with everything you could possibly need. The main living room was spacious yet cosy, with the added ambience of the woodburner. Would definitely recommend."
    - Mrs Norton, December 2018
"Personally I feel the photos presented on the website looked “ok” hence the reason we booked however upon our arrival we were positively delighted with this very fabulous cute, cosy and immaculate property Photos on the website certainly don’t do it justice! My husband,my three teenage boys and my elderly mum and our dog just loved every aspect of this holiday home Incredibly well laid out with a fabulous cosy log fire in the lounge area- just perfect for relaxing with a glass or two after a long walk Certainly much larger than we first envisaged The kitchen was very well designed and impressive space with everything you need to hand and yet still retaining that snug cottage feel and look Plenty of choice of bedrooms and every space designed and presented with style. Both bathrooms were of an equally high standard and design Certainly a property that is very much loved and highly maintained by its owners - credit to them"
    - Mr Tate, September 2019
"Well equipped and fully dog friendly."
    - Mrs Barry, November 2019

    - Mrs Spargo, February 2020
"Its incredibly cosy, comfy and a real home from home. We feel we have been away for much longer than a week too. The cottage is in the lovely hamlet of Crook, walking distance to a lovely country pub, and a short driving distance to Kendal, and also the rest of the major Lake District towns and villages. The bed was very comfy, shower was great, and the cottage had all amenities you might need or want for a break away. We look forward to returning!"
