About this property

Chapelside Cottage is a delightful, stone-built cottage based in quiet location on the outskirts of Ambleside’s Old Town conservation area, just a couple minutes’ stroll down Peggy Hill from the village amenities. Gather friends and family to enjoy this idyllic location, filled with plenty of attractions to ensure an unforgettable holiday. The property is set out in a reverse level style with the bedrooms downstairs and the living areas upstairs to take advantage of the sweeping views. The light and airy living/dining area is where you can look forward to kicking back on the sofas to enjoy a range of streaming services from the Smart TV or head out onto the balcony, complete with table and chairs to sit at whilst admiring the views of the Wansfell and the surrounding area. Fulfilling your culinary needs is a well-equipped, cream shaker style kitchen where you will be delighted to rustle up an evening meal. Completing the interior are three well-dressed bedrooms, including a king-size with en-suite shower, a twin and single, making this cottage ideal for families. If you fancy an evening glass of wine, you can discover a wealth of pubs together with a variety of restaurants and coffee shops within a 5-minute walk, as well as a supermarket for picking up any essentials. Ambleside has everything for your daily needs, in addition to the surrounding walks and rambles there are numerous daytime activities including mountain bike hire, tennis bowls, pitch and putt and of course – the delights of a cruise or boat hire on the picturesque Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake. If you’re a fan of Beatrix Potter then you must explore the World of Beatrix Potter attraction in Bowness or visit Hill Top, her former 17th century farmhouse which is now a National Trust owned property. Explore the woods at Orrest Head where you will discover unrivalled views of the lakes that are so breath-taking, they inspired British author Alfred Wainwright to move to Cumbria in order to spend his life wandering the fells. For a memorable holiday celebrating time your nearest and dearest, consider Chapelside Cottage for your next Lake District escape.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

It was extremely comfortable and kept us positive on a few rainy days in the lakes!

It was beautifully presented and we loved how clean and bright it was. The cottage is very well equipped with good quality furnishings. The position is very quiet and convenient, with just a short walk in to Ambleside. The upside down living was great fun, giving a fantastic view of the fells from the lounge. We would definitely recommend a stay here and would love to return.
