About this property

Looking for a luxurious place to stay in a tranquil setting but close enough to walk into Ambleside town centre? This gorgeous, second-floor two-bedroom apartment with glorious views, is sure to fit the bill. Loughrigg Suite, converted within a magnificent nineteenth century Vicarage, really is very special. A beautifully appointed apartment set in acres of wooded grounds and surrounded by love-ly countryside with stunning views across the Rydal Valley to the dramatic Fairfield Horseshoe. Drive through the security gateway up to the parking area. As you get out of the car, pause for a moment to take in the impressive Victorian house and the breath-taking countryside around you. Take the short walk to the main entrance, then climb the sweeping grand staircase to your apart-ment. Walk into your attractive, comfortable sitting room with dining area, where you will find in-teresting roof lines and exposed beams. You will be drawn to the gorgeous turret windows, where you will discover panoramic views of the acclaimed Fairfield Horseshoe. This room really does have the wow factor. Its high ceiling, top quality fabrics and co-ordinating colours gives it a lovely light and relaxing ambience. Walk a few steps down into your lovely open plan fitted kitchen and take in another fine view from the window. Have your cereal at the breakfast bar or create an evening meal to enjoy with your favourite drink at the stylish dining table. Stroll around the beautiful wooded grounds, sit on one of the garden seats to admire the views and wildlife. If you feel more active, play tennis on the shared tennis court or head out to explore the imposing countryside. There are many wonderful walks from your doorstep, to suit all abilities; a ten-minute easy downhill stroll takes you over a charming stone bridge then through Rothay Park into Ambleside or head out for a more challenging day exploring the splendid Lakeland fells.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

Lots of steps and no access to the lift as you need a code for it!!! Would have been useful to take the luggage up and down on arrival and departure. Grounds to the house are stunning with amazing views and an easy downhill walk into Ambleside.

We were extremely comfortable there. So all was excellent there. The Negatives Accessibility is a big issue which I feel your description fails to address clearly. Your description correctly states it’s a second floor apartment. But unless I missed something in the description that statement doesn’t truly reflect the task needed to transport suitcases , shopping, drinks for the festive season etc up several flights of stairs ( about 50 steps in total). There may be an accessibility statement for this property, but if so I missed it. We are relatively fit and in our 70s but still found it quite a struggle. There is of course a lift, which is not mentioned in your description. But apparently the lift is for permanent residents of the building only and accessed by a key code which we were not provided with. Some redress for this situation was requested and would have been appreciated.
