About this property

Redwood is a modern detached property occupying a slightly elevated spot on the lower slopes of Wansfell. The location commands fine views towards Loughrigg Fell and The Fairfield Horseshoe and it is just a half mile walk, downhill, to the centre of vibrant Ambleside. Offering the very best of both worlds this contemporary cottage sits in a peaceful position yet is still close enough to the village for convenience and access to its amenities.

Beautifully presented and well appointed the open plan living space on the ground level is fabulous and has patio doors leading to a furnished decked area where you can sip a cup of tea or even a glass or two! The conservatory offers a place to escape to and relax, while upstairs you’ll benefit from superb views from the three bedrooms and the large, luxurious bathroom.

There’s private parking at the front of the property, along with a front garden with seating. Enter the house via the porch, perfect for walking clobber, then into the open plan living space, a bright and airy lounge with leather sofas and plenty of space that runs through to the dining area with patio doors looking up onto Wansfell. To the rear, there's a back garden and decked patio complete with furniture, ideal for al-fresco living.

The kitchen is well equipped and you can relax in the conservatory. There is also an additional shower room with WC off this room. On the first floor, the three bedrooms, two double and one single are beautifully presented offer far reaching views and the large and luxurious bathroom has a double ended bath and separate power shower cubicle.

Lying at the northern tip of Lake Windermere, England’s largest lake, Ambleside makes a superb base for touring the central Lakes, with Grasmere and the Langdale Valley just a short drive away. There is plenty to do here - cruises, boat trips and watersports on Lake Windermere itself and numerous shops, restaurants and pubs in the village to suit all tastes. On the lakeside at Waterhead, the parkland offers lovely views down the lake and a short stretch of beach, whilst a walk in the other direction, following Stock Ghyll through woodland, will bring you to the entrancing waterfall of Stock Ghyll Force. Along with the Lake and the great walking on offer, Ambleside is also famous for its annual rushbearing ceremony and the diminutive 17th century “Bridge House” - one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District and now the National Trust Information Centre.

We particularly welcomed the communication on the first day and the package you left for us. The house was nice and warm; you could probably get a way with it being a couple of degrees cooler to save a little on bills. The kitchen is well equipped and the new oven was very efficient. Thank you for such a great stay.

The welcome gifts were much appreciated. Good views of Loughrigg from the front and nice watching the birds, sheep, cockerel and deer out the back. Great selection of books and games. Location ideal for us with a 10 min walk into town.

Very comfortable and clean with plenty of space and comfortable beds and furniture. We did have a visiting cockerel over the weekend, but he did let us have a lie in until around 8am.
