A short drive away is the tourist town of Ambleside which has one of the most photographed buildings in the Lake District, the 17th century Bridge House, as well as ruins of a Roman Fort and a scenic 70ft waterfall in a wooded area with a viewpoint. From Ambleside, you can access some of the best walking trails in the National Park, and the stunning Lake Windermere which offers boat rides, lake cruises and watersports. The town of Windermere and Bowness-on-Windemere also rest on the lake and offers shops, pubs, Beatrix Potter attractions and tourist attractions such as The Baddeley Clock Tower.
