About this property

This pretty, traditional double-fronted Lakeland cottage is peacefully located on the edge of National Trust land but still only a few minutes downhill stroll to the centre of Bowness.

Cosy up on chilly evenings, dine-in in the stylish country kitchen, or make the most of your lovely garden & patio. Wander straight onto the nearby fell to admire breathtaking lake views from the summit, or stroll down the lane to Bowness, for a shop, a lake cruise or a special evening out. Private parking for two cars. Traditional slate-floored entrance porch leading into the hall, with plenty of space for walking gear. Well-equipped kitchen / dining room with pretty cottage windows. The cosy lounge is calming & bright, with a gas flame fire for ease. Upstairs to the two pretty bedrooms, one double and one single, both with lovely outlooks. The house bathroom is perfect for a long soak with shower over bath. The garden has a furnished patio, small lawn and outhouse - ideal for storing bikes.

Explore the delights of Bowness, alive with sophisticated shopping, popular Lake District family attractions and endless choice for an evening out. Or, leave the crowds behind and walk straight onto the fell from your door to admire Lake Windermere from afar. Stroll down to the lake shore, where hire boats come and go, and you can catch a Windermere Lake Cruises steamer to Ambleside or Lakeside - a scenic way to explore without taking your car. Couples might enjoy a romantic evening cruise on Lake Windermere, and young families enjoy fun attractions such as mini golf on the 'Glebe', a miniature steam train, the Lakes Aquarium, and open top Lake District bus tours departing. Don't forget that Windermere Golf Club is located just outside Bowness. Touring the wider Lake District is simple and scenic by car from Bowness. Head a couple of miles up the road to Windermere, and you'll link up to the A591 - the main route into the heart of the Lakes.

The vibrant twin towns of Bowness and Windermere hold enduring appeal for visitors to the Lake District National Park, with each providing a range of nearby attractions, amenities, shops and restaurants to suit all tastes. A variety of boat trips and boat hire are available from Windermere Lake Cruises in Bowness to Brockhole, Ambleside and Lakeside (at the southern end of the lake where the Lakeside Aquarium and the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway are situated). The World of Beatrix Potter attraction and the Old Laundry theatre are 1.5 miles away. Orrest Head, where Alfred Wainwright was inspired to write his series of iconic guidebooks, is a 30-minute walk to enjoy the spectacular panorama of far-reaching views over the lake and surrounding fells. Brockhole, which offers high wire tree top experiences, is less than two miles away, and the historic villages of Grasmere, Ambleside and Troutbeck are a short drive away. There are also a variety of watersports on offer for the more energetic at marine centres along the lake. The area is ideally situated for exploring all that this region has to offer, whether by foot, bike, car, railway or bus; and is within easy reach of attractions such as the spectacular Langdales, Beatrix Potter’s Hill Top House at Far Sawrey, Coniston, Grizedale Forest Park, with its delightful walks and famous outdoor sculptures, mountain biking and “Go-Ape” adventure park, Ullswater, Kendal, Keswick, stone circles, Roman forts and England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike.

From the communication with lakelovers / Sykes to the basic facilities within the cottage. Just disappointing. It was a shame because location wise, the property is excellent.

We loved the kitchen that had everything we needed and seemed brand new, and the luxury bed linen on the large and comfortable bed, and the thick white towels on the heated rail! (Beautiful curtains too!} Luxury! Every window has a pretty view and it's so near to the centre and the lakeside. The garden was perfect for the dog to wander in and there was a real sense of privacy and peace. Thank you.

Didn't feel the dogs were very welcome as there were so many signs up saying what you couldn't do with the dogs.
