If you’re not ready for the evening to end, why not explore the grounds and head over to the shared gardens where you can relish the last of the day’s sunshine? As the evening grows darker, retreat inside where you can snuggle up on the sofa and watch a film on the TV, play a board game, or curl up with one of the many great reads on offer. Wash away the day with a refreshing rinse in the large shower, before climbing into the sumptuous four-poster double bed, overlooked by a delightful book portrait. Take advantage of your superb location, where you will find the Knettishall Heath Nature Reserve nearby, well-known for being both a SSSI and GSI site, where you can enjoy a leisurely stroll through the preserved woodland and take in the views of the grazing cattle and ponies. There is also the fascinating Thelnetham Windmill, a Grade II* listed tower mill which offers guided tours and scrumptious cream teas onsite. The idyllic village of Garboldisham has everything you could need during your self-catered stay, including a well-stocked village shop for picking up any last-minute essentials and the popular Fox Inn pub which serves traditional pub meals and local ales, perfect for those evenings where you fancy a night off from the kitchen! Next stop is Diss, where you will find the picturesque Frenze Back Nature Reserve and Diss Park, the excellent Diss Golf Club where you can spot the local wildlife as you putt and a great selection of pubs, restaurants and cafes for pit-stops as you refuel for the rest of your excursions. Budding historians will not want to miss the opportunity to visit Bury St Edmunds, home to the ruins of a Benedictine Abbey, a stunning 16th-century cathedral and the interesting museums of Suffolk Regiment and Moyse’s Hall.
