There are also plenty of attractions within a close radius, which include Killhope Wheel, the lead mining museum is a favourite of families of all ages. The pictures postcard villages of Stanhope, Frosterley and Wolsingham are a short drive.

For guests wanting to travel a little further afield but still remain within an easy hour’s drive, the opportunities are vast. The cathedral city of Durham, with its castle and university, is only 27 miles away, Cumbria and the Lake District can be visited within an hour’s drive, as can the stunning Northumberland coast, historic Hexham and Corbridge, Hadrian’s Wall, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Alnwick making this a perfect location for couples, families and groups of friends.
