This Grade II listed cottage, attached to the main forge house, has been loving renovated and offers traditional elements combined with modern and practical living. Deceptively spacious, there is ample room for families of all ages, friends who like to holiday together and couples wanting to enjoy a peaceful romantic break. On the ground floor, guests will find open plan living, dining and kitchen areas with wooden floors throughout, exposed beams, original stone walls and French doors that open out into the rear garden. The substantial multi-fuel burner heats the whole house and is quite a feature for a house that was once an ancient forge. Quirky and characterful, The Old Forge is situated along the main road as it would have needed to be accessible for carriages and horses in years gone by. There is even a feature of an old wagon that stands proudly in the garden and is a nod to the working history of the cottage as well as the original wheelwright that would have been used all those years ago.

In the heart of the village of Stocksfield, guests will be able to find a small shop just across the road and a local pub just ½ mile away, as well as brilliant transport links including the local railway station just a few hundred yards away. Perfect for exploring the local area, the pretty village of Corbridge is only 5 miles west of the cottage and offers quaint tea rooms, boutique shops, riverside walks or a top quality meal in one of the many pubs and restaurants. The historic market town of Hexham lies just 10 miles away and offers a theatre, swimming pool, leisure centre, race course and golf course, as well as many historic attractions including Hexham Old Gaol and Hexham Abbey, making this the perfect destination for guests of all ages.

Also perfect for walkers and cyclists, there are many established public footpaths and well known walks, including Heddon on the Wall, Newburn Walk, Ovingham Walk, Prudhoe Walk and Riding Mills. Explore the historic routes of Hadrian’s Wall, with many Roman settlements and remains to discover, including the world famous sight of Vindolanda. Perfect for golfers, the popular Slaley Hall Golf Club is only 10 miles away, as well as numerous smaller courses including Stocksfield, Corbridge and Hexham golf clubs. The Old Forge is near to the national cycle route, no. 72, which runs coast to coast. A little further afield, but still only 16 miles away, guests will be able to visit Newcastle-upon-Tyne, which offers The Sage, The Centre for Life and the Millennium Bridge, as well as an abundance of high street shops and designer boutiques. The cathedral city of Durham is just a 35-minute drive away, and is perfect for a day trip. Shop 100 yards, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
