About this property

Overlooking the scenic countryside and the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle, Dunstanburgh View offers a great base for a family looking to explore the wonders of Embleton and the surrounding areas of Northumberland. This beautiful grey stone cottage is nestled within a backdrop of mature trees and encourages you to make yourself at home in the airy open-plan living area, a fantastic social hub for all guests to enjoy, with a wood panelled roof and tasteful décor. Be amazed by the sitting area, where there is a blue sofa offering views across the local landscape that are simply stunning, courtesy of the French windows, and from here you will find a fantastic balcony with panoramic scenery and views of Dunstanburgh Castle, an ideal spot for an evening relaxing with a glass of your favourite beverage. Behind the sitting area is a kitchen with ample amenities and plenty of space for guests to cook together, as well as a bar and dining table. Split level, there are several steps down to the bathroom, and three bedrooms make a bubble of calm for you to cosy up for the night in, including a king-size, a single and a bunk. When the sun is shining, spend some time outside in the little garden, surrounded by mature trees, a bench and a lawn. Embleton is a fantastic seaside town with loads on offer for guest, beginning with the selection of tasty eateries and local shops in the town centre, and so you can enjoy a hot meal after spending the day at the local sandy beach or visiting Embleton Quarry Nature Reserve. From here you can enjoy golf at Dunstanburgh Castle Golf Club and visit the ruins of the castle itself, maybe even trying out the scenic Dunstanburgh Castle Walk which leads to the town of Craster where there are more eateries, countryside walks and coastal scenery to enjoy. Make the perfect family getaway to Northumberland with a stay at the wonderful Dunstanburgh View.

The pretty village of Embleton is ideally placed for exploring one of the most attractive stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. A beautiful grassy path runs from the village to neighbouring Craster, alongside the sea and past Dunstanburgh Castle - the largest ruined castle in Northumberland. Embleton itself has a village pub and a local hotel, and there is an excellent range of amenities in nearby Alnwick. The gardens at nearby Howick Hall are open during the summer and are noted for their beauty, whilst Alnwick Castle and Garden are a 'must-see' when visiting the area. For the keen golfer, Dunstanburgh Links Course is about 1 mile away - just one of several excellent courses in the vicinity.

During our stay there was a strong easterly wind blowing. Subsequently both the east facing bedrooms were very cold due to poor sealing of windows and door hence the unfavourable Comfort & Facilities and Maintenance ratings.. Rectifying these would be a massive improvement.

Fantastic views over the castle and pub and hotel close by highly recommended. Only problem was disturbed sleep due to heat exchange system. Don't notice it upstairs but quite loud in main bedroom

Was worried as one review had said it was cold but we were happy to find it nice and warm, in fact turned the heating down a lot. Well appointed property with a lovely view. Lovely village also with friendly village pub the Greys Inn. Look forward to visiting again sometime.
