This pretty former school house has been lovingly restored and is well equipped offering very comfortable living accommodation for 4 people. The cottage style bedrooms are beautifully furnished, the bathroom is spacious and contemporary. The living area is open plan with sofa, arm chair, dining table and chairs. Strike a match to the open fire and put your feet up after a busy day hiking in the hills. There’s no TV reception but there is a DVD player and MP3 dock. The School House is in a fabulous location with far reaching views. The fully enclosed garden is perfect for children and dogs with views along the Cheviot valley. As a guest of the property you will receive a permit to drive the roads in the private College Valley, just 12 cars are given permits at any one time so the roads are uncrowded.
The School House is the perfect choice if you’re looking to escape the daily grind and discover an area packed with wildlife, flora and fauna. If you’re planning on taking your walking boots, you won’t be disappointed… think about an unspoilt and natural landscape with spectacular scenery and you’ll be on the right track. There are four challenging circular Hillfort Trails in the College Valley - Hethas Hike, Ring Chesters Round, Four Forts Foray and the River and Ramparts Ramble, you could of course just wander down to the stream.
The School House stands at the foot of the Cheviot Massif in the National Park, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. This is a designated Dark Sky Park where the only night light is from the moon and stars. Wildlife is excellent too, look out for wild goats, deer, peregrine, red grouse, ring ouzel, buzzards, ravens, kestrels and red squirrel. Fishing, golfing, riding available nearby.
