Alice Well Cottage is semi-detached and sits on the banks of the River Wear, with stunning walking and cycle trails, picnic spots and parks along the way. Situated in the quiet little hamlet of Cox Green it offers home from home accommodation for 6 people, with an additional fold out single bed in the double bedroom suitable for flexible sleeping or a child. Bedroom 1 has double bed and fold out single bed, bedroom 2 is king size with travel cot and bedroom 3 has a single bed and pull-out trundle bed. The kitchen is equipped with all your necessary appliances and coffee machine for your morning latte. There is a separate dining room and a living room with comfortable sofas wrapped around a log burning fire and wall mounted smart TV. Guests are welcome to bring one well behaved furry friend. There is an enclosed lawned garden and patio to sit and enjoy the warmer months and many activities nearby whether you are looking to walk/cycle explore or enjoy a family holiday and want to enjoy simple activities.

As you approach the village, the amazing vision of Penshaw Monument comes into view and driving down to the cottage the Riverside opens up before you. In front of the house is the Heritage site of the Alice Well dating back to the 19th century. Otters and seals can often be seen, and activities are many – canoeing, sailing, fishing, and riverside paths for cycling and walking or take your deck chair and bucket and spade to enjoy a day at the beach! Enjoy a loop around the river crossing the nearby footbridge and visit one of the village pubs en-route. Popular landmarks are within easy reach, Victoria Viaduct, Hylton Castle and the popular Sunderland coastal resorts and sandy beaches at Roker, Seaburn and Whitburn. There are lots of amenities within a short walk – family pubs and restaurants, a children’s play park and lake for picnics or enjoy a visit to Wetlands Wildlife Park.
