About this property

The Chapel House is a beautifully renovated, two bedroom semi-detached cottage located within the grounds of historic Arley Hall and Gardens. On the doorstep are the Estate’s award-winning gardens, arboretum, woodands walk, café and plant nursery, all set against the scenic backdrop of the rolling Cheshire countryside.

The property has undergone extensive refurbishment, transforming the former Estate workers' accommodation into a contemporary holiday home with a light and airy feel throughout. On the ground floor is a well-proportioned open-plan living area featuring a well-equipped, modern kitchen with Rayburn range cooker and central island unit with breakfast bar seating four. On the opposite end of the room is the incredibly comfortable sitting area with L-shaped sofa, Smart TV and gas flame-effect fire. Situated in front of the bay window with French doors is a dining table seating four with lovely views on to the cottage's small lawn area. On the first floor are the cottage's two bedrooms, one with a super-king size bed and a second with a zip and link bed, offering flexible accommodation for families with children or two couples holidaying together.

Arley Hall and Gardens is a stunning historic house and wedding venue with gardens open to the public for much of the year. Guests staying at The Chapel House have complimentary access to all of the facilities on-site including the award-winning manicured gardens, plant nursery, café and children's play zone. Just outside the cottage's front door is The Grove, a well-established arboretum and a Woodland Walk covering approximately 6-7 acres. Arley is conveniently positioned in a very quiet and peaceful rural spot, yet is not far from the M6 and M56 motorways making it easily accessible for weekend breaks. The area is perfect for countryside walks and many of Cheshire's finest gardens and stately homes are nearby. If you fancy venturing further afield, the walled city of Chester, with its famous zoo can be reached in 30 minutes' drive. Alternatively Manchester and Liverpool are great day trip destinations, both can be reached in under an hour.

Lovely cottage. This is our second visit. Lovely walks in grounds. A bit expensive but worth it

A beautiful property in a beautiful location. We came away for a bit of peace, but with it being a wedding and events venue, we were woken every morning by staff going about their work in the courtyard next door, loading and unloading from vans, etc. (from about 8:30am, which won't be early for some people!). The impression we had was that the staff are doing a great job, but their focus is on their events and they are not mindful of Chapel House guests. However, the afternoons and evenings were extremely peaceful. We loved the space and the privilege of being able to stay somewhere so magical. The property itself is wonderful, although we felt some aspects were a little over-spec'd. If you have very long hair, the two showers are both tricky to use (a boring handheld shower for rinsing would be helpful) and the bath is uncomfortably narrow (easy to bang your knees on the taps). The Aga-style oven seems redundant (we didn't use it) and the fire in the living area wasn't guarded in any way. But these are small things that may not trouble others. We were very fortunate to be there when the White Cube sculpture exhibition was taking place. We do suggest future guests check the events page on the Arley Hall website in advance as we only found out very late in the day that the Geronimo Festival ('Glastonbury for kids') was being held in the next field. This didn't affect our enjoyment of the accommodation at all, although it was very noisy in the gardens. Overall, our stay was fantastic. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the entire accommodation was spotless. Highly recommended.

The cottage was lovely. Staff helpful especially Margaret in the gift shop. Very disappointed in rural retreats staff member. Rather rude, unhelpful and although she promised to ring us back, she didn’t. We would certainly return it hope to have a better experience with the booking agents
