About this property

Pond End is a delightful ground floor stone built cottage in a peaceful village location near Penrith that sleeps four people. Converted from an original farm building, this cottage is part of a small courtyard development adjacent to the owner's home.

The cottage boasts large glass doors to let in plenty of light and is charmingly furnished and provided with all amenities and comforts to make it perfect for families who wish to explore the Lake District.

The cottage is centrally heated, with a sitting room with entertainment facilities, comfortable furnishings and inclusive dining area. A cheerful kitchen with wood trim and a delightful cottage feel has all the basic kitchen appliances you would need, and includes a washing machine and dishwasher. Bedrooms with cottage style wooden furniture and cosy carpeting add to the rural ambience, and the main double bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, while a second bathroom means there is ample wash and WC space for a family on holiday.

Large bright patio doors offer a view of the stone walled garden and surrounding countryside. Patio furniture enables the holidaymaker to relax and enjoy a tranquil breakfast, an evening drink or a barbeque at sunset.

This charming cottage with a patio is situated near the tranquil village of Newby in the Lake District. The nearby market towns of Penrith and Appleby are only eight miles away and Keswick 21 miles, making Newby the perfect base for a countryside holiday that is in easy reach of the attractions of Cumbria and the Lake District. Holidaymakers looking to explore the Lake District, Hadrian's Wall and Scottish Borders will be spoiled for choice, with the cottage providing a picturesque and tastefully furnished base. Lakes Ullswater and Haweswater are both only a short drive away, suiting active guests who enjoy water sports and hikes.

Located between the Northern Pennines and the unspoiled Lake District, Pond End is the ideal getaway for families and holidaymakers looking to explore the history and natural beauty of the Cumbrian area.

The village of Newby sits in a secluded location in the Eden Valley, between the northern Pennines and the Lake District. Newby, with its better-known neighbours of Appleby and Penrith, is surrounded by lovely landscapes and is often described as having a special, unchanging beauty. The beds were extremely comfortable. Unfortunately we had to leave early because my back problem flared up. We let the owners know and they were very understanding. It was a sad ending to what could have been a lovely holiday. Regards Jean

It was on the right of the cross road sign. It was cold that evening and the host had kindly put the heating on and we opened the door to a cosy warm cottage. It was very clean and had all the amenities as posted on the site. The beds were very comfy just like home. We were able to visit Lake Windermere, Ullswater, Dalmain house and Aire Water force waterfall from the cottage. We had a very comfortable stay there and would highly recommend this cottage. It would be more lovely in the summer as the view from the back garden was already beautiful now. The host even made a visit the next morning to check that all was ok. Thank you to the host for a lovely stay

The surroundings are absolutely beautiful and picturesque and the fields to the rear of the cottage were a sight to behold and a pleasure each morning watching the horses and the rabbits playing whilst enjoying a cup of tea surrounded by little birds in the morning light. The property itself is ideally situated for what we needed, access to most places and all within easy reach with the car. The cottage was homely and very comfortable and was home from home. My wee Mum came with us and she loved every minute of her stay there. If it bothers you in any way, The internet access was poor but this wasn't really an issue for us as the property and surroundings were more important. Overall, We had a wonderful time in this part of the lake district and would not hesitate to come back again. Thank you.
