About this property

Set in the Cumbrian village of Kirkby-in-Furness rests this delightful, two-bedroom holiday home, Station View. With an exquisite exterior, off-road parking, and great positioning to nearby amenities, this property is a fantastic base for a family looking to explore the Lake District National Park and its vast, stunning landscapes. As you step into your new home-from-home, be charmed by a collection of well-presented living areas, including a fully-fitted kitchen, where the designated chef will find everything required to whip up delicious meals for the whole group. Settle down to enjoy your feasts at the dining table before relaxing on the sofa in the living/dining room, where a Smart TV and crackling woodburning stove take centre stage. A snug tucked away on the second floor of the house serves as a great escape for the younger members of the family who want to watch a film or two before bed. As the evenings grow darker, treat yourself to a rejuvenating shower or a hot bath before retiring to a plush king-size bed - a perfect spot to unwind and prepare for a brand new day. If you can tear yourself away from your peaceful lodgings, explore your local area by making the short car trip to Ulverston, where visitors can find attractions such as the Laurel & Hardy Museum and the Sir John Barrow Monument, as well as a range of excellent dining options, including the Old Farmhouse. Whilst you're in the region, venture into the Lake District, where you can hop aboard the Lakeside and Haverthwaite Railway; get up close and personal with aquatic life at the Lakes Aquarium, or embark on a walk or bike ride along one of Grizedale's many rural trails. If you don't feel like leaving the comfort of your new abode, why not enjoy the sights of the nearby railway line, including a whole host of trains chugging slowly past, sure to excite any keen trainspotters amongst your group; you'll also find a telescope in the attic, perfect for gazing out at the night sky! Enjoy all of this when you book a stay at Station View.

On the Furness peninsula, six hamlets make up Kirkby-in-Furness, which has a view of the Duddon estuary. A general store, two pubs, and a Cumbrian Coast Line train station are located in the village. Broughton-in-Furness, which is only five miles away, has a lot to offer tourists, including a charming square with cobblestones and a magnificent horse chestnut tree that is surrounded by stores, pubs, and homes. The village offers a perfect starting point for a hiking or climbing holiday, with plenty of opportunities to explore the Duddon Valley's untamed beauty and the more sedate Lake District fells. The historic market town of Ulverston, which still hosts a street market every Thursday and Saturday, is located east of Kirkby-in-Furness. The town is now well recognised for hosting festivals all year long, including the famed Dickensian festival in late November and walking and art festivals in the summer. Since it is now the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world, one of the town's major claims to fame is that Stan Laurel was born there! Many stores, cafes, restaurants, bars, a movie theatre, and a recreation centre are among the amenities. The World of Beatrix Potter, the Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway, the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, and Muncaster Castle are just a few of the neighbouring family-friendly attractions. The National Park's attractions are all reasonably accessible.

We would stay here again as it has everything you need and is very comfortable and easy with our two children. We did have a couple of niggles on arrival as it had been empty for some time and so there were a few cobwebs in high places and some dust around. Under the beds, sofas and bedside cabinets hadn’t been hoovered so we had to do this ourselves. We mentioned this on arrival, and also because the toilet flush had broken (it was fixed within a couple of hours) and also the WiFi didn’t work for the duration of our stay. We were told that there was an oversight with it being empty for some weeks, so hopefully these issues were a one-off. It also would have been really helpful to have had some milk or something on arrival as there is no longer a shop in the village. Other than the niggles, we really had a pleasant stay, everything else was super clean and comfortable, lovely and warm and we never ran out of hot water. The loft room is fab for the kids to have their own space and the kitchen has everything you could need for a few meals. We will definitely stay again the next time we visit our family.

Little bit of a problem with the electricity but it soon sorted itself out. The views & walks were lovely. The station was close but very handy & not really noisy.

Our teens enjoyed having their own space on the top floor. The scenery around the area is breathtaking. We hope to return.
