About this property

Settled amidst the wonder of the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is this contemporary delight, Rose Cottage dating back to 1791. Boasting magnificent views over the countryside from its exterior, with a stylish interior welcoming you in after a day of exploration, this property is perfect for a romantic escape to Lancashire. Step inside to the beautiful open-plan living space, marvelling at the beautiful stained glass rose in the door giving the cottage its name, where a stylish array of plush grey seating invites you to warm up before the wood burning stove, the perfect way to end any day, while the dining table sits behind here where you can enjoy all your romantic meals, the sleek kitchen offering all the essentials with an electric oven and induction hob, microwave, fridge and even a dishwasher, with plenty of preparation space around the bright and welcoming yellow walls. Take the stairs to the first floor to be met by the impressive shower room, home to a spacious walk-in shower where you can relax and wash away the day, as well as the wonder of your very own infrared sauna offering true tranquillity after your fun-filled days. Seek comfort within the double bedroom and catch up with your rest all while being surrounded by a simple yet stylish interior, with ample storage space for your personal belongings too. Begin your day out in the walled front garden with views over the Ribble Valley to Pendle Hill before heading out to explore the excitement up close; the local area is wonderfully idyllic, with the nearby Grindleton Brook making a lovely spot for an early morning stroll amongst the fresh countryside air, while if you're looking for a more leisurely atmosphere take a trip into the villages of Waddington and Chatburn where you will find all the amenities you could need for a self-catered stay. Waddington hosts three excellent pubs and a Post Office while Chatburn has a Post Office with a local shop, two pubs, a Chinese takeaway and even an ice cream parlour. Visits to these villages are sure to tend to all your cuisine needs, as well as being homes to beautiful parish churches, well-worth exploring. From the cottage you have easy access to Pendle Hill, best known for its links to the Witch Trials of 1612, it now offers its visitors 43 miles of wonderful walking route along the Pendle Way through the Trough of Bowland to Lancaster, with access to the Bronte Way too, both offering spectacular views and plenty of scenic picnic spots. Be sure to make the most of the Forest of Bowland AONB too, with even more walking and cycling routes amongst spectacular scenery as well as opportunities for fishing for trout and salmon on the rivers Ribble, Dunsop, Hodder and Lune, as well as gliding, stargazing and so much more, there's something here to suit every type of adventurer. The Forest of Bowland (AONB) has been officially recognised as having some of the darkest skies in England. Venture to the town of Clitheroe for a day with a more vibrant pace, where you will find a good selection of restaurants to choose from for a celebratory dinner, as well as Clitheroe Castle, supposedly the smallest Norman castle in England, hosting its very own museum and sixteen acres of stunning landscaped gardens, as well as the town offering ghost and brewery tours and wonderful shopping experiences, it's well-worth exploring. Perfect for a couple's retreat to Lancashire, Rose Cottage makes a fantastic choice for your holiday base in Lancashire at any time of year.

Chatburn is a settlement, civil parish, and electoral ward in East Lancashire's Ribble Valley, and it's a great home base for visiting the nearby Forest of Bowland and Pendle Hill. This picturesque village dates back to the Anglo-Saxon era and was named after one of the most notable figures of the time, St. Chad. It is conveniently located near many amazing attractions and modern conveniences. The town's Post Office was damaged during World War II but has since been restored, making it the ideal site to pick up some necessities while also taking in the area's rich history as you wait for your mail. Take a trip down the River Ribble, and you'll come across two pubs, a Chinese takeout, and an ice cream parlour, not to mention a convenience shop in the hamlet for your own cooking needs. Visit Pendle Hill, famously associated with the 1612 witch trials, and stroll along the 43-mile-long Pendle Way, or connect with sections of the Bronte Way to see even more of this beautiful region. Don't forget to spend some time in the adjacent Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (aonb), where you can go hiking or biking through wooded cloughs and river valleys, or partake in other adventurous pursuits like fishing for trout and salmon in the rivers Ribble, Lune, and Hodder, or even try your hand at gliding. Visit Skipton to view its massive castle and play a round of golf; the town also has a wide selection of eateries. Alternatively, spend the day in Burnley to enjoy excellent shopping and stroll through beautiful parks. Chatburn is a great getaway option for anyone looking to get away to rural Lancashire and is still close to the larger cities of Skipton, Preston, and Blackburn.

Rose Cottage is cosy and comfortable, perfect for a winter break; it is also stylish with fab modern features like the sauna. My husband and I had a wonderful stay, enjoying the wood burning stove curled up on the sofa in the evening. The village is lovely and the surrounding countryside has beautiful walks straight from the front door of the cottage.
