About this property

Nestled in the courtyard of Hill Top Farm behind secure electric gates and a 200yd tree lined drive, Meadow Cottage offers a luxurious rural hideaway with all the comforts of home. Offering a stunning 180° panorama across farms, fields and rolling fells - the views stretch as far as the Irish Sea, North Wales Hills, Fylde Coast, Blackpool Tower, (see the illuminations in November) Morecambe Bay, Beacon Fell, Parlick Fell, Chipping and Dunsop Bridge. On certain days, one can even see The Isle of Man! Meadow Cottage offers truly luxurious accommodation for all types of guests with two ground floor king size bedrooms. There is plenty of flexibility on offer as both of the bedrooms offer zip and link king sized double or twin beds - with an additional ‘roll-out’ 3ft guest bed, thereby converting Bedroom 1 into a ‘family’ room. Bedroom 2 boasts a totally self-contained suite with modern en-suite shower room as well as there being a separate wet room, shower room for Bedroom 1. The property is fully flexible and ideal for all types of guests such as families with children aged 5 and above, groups of friends, couples seeking a romantic getaway, guests attending weddings and celebrations, business travellers and visiting relatives. With stylish and contemporary furnishings and oak floors throughout, Meadow Cottage is truly ‘Green’ – heated by latest Scandinavian ‘geo thermal’ ground source heating technology with underfloor heating throughout and individual room ‘smart’ thermostats. Additional hot water is provided by roof solar water heating panels, but there is also a log burning stove for those nights where only a cosy real fire will do. A welcome grocery pack, toiletries, fire logs, broadband Wi-Fi, Smart TV’s with Freesat, Netflix, YouTube and Spotify are all included in the rental charge. Meadow Cottage is highly suitable for guests with limited mobility; whilst not having full disabled facilities, there is an access ramp from the car park, all accommodation in the main cottage is level ground floor, the bathroom has an outward opening extra-wide access door, a raised height WC and a totally open wet room shower facility where a sit down shower could be taken – (using a suitable stool provided on request.) With a wide range of footpaths and cycle routes immediately nearby, it provides the ideal base for an activity holiday. However, the village of Longridge is only 1 mile away, within easy walking distance and offers opportunities for relaxation in the numerous inns and restaurants with no worries about driving. The main shopping centres of Blackburn and Preston are only 7 miles drive and the internationally famous Trafford Centre Shopping Mall can be reached with a 45-minute motorway drive. The coastal tourist resorts of Blackpool and Morecambe are both within an easy drive and the beautiful Lake District is an easy day excursion.

Longridge is situated 8 miles north-east of the city of Preston, at the western end of Longridge Fell, above the River Ribble. The town holds a portfolio of gift shops, cafes, antiques and art studios together with a cinema, plus numerous food outlets from takeaways to gastro pubs. The Forest of Bowland (aonb) shows off an expanse of gentle and tidy lowlands criss-crossed with dry stone walls and dotted with picturesque farms and villages. The area sports numerous agricultural shows, art exhibitions and day festivals of all sorts throughout the summer and is within reach of the Lancaster canal and city, Blackpool and the Lake District, so there is plenty to keep everyone occupied.

Lots of things to do in the area, not too far from the coast. Very friendly & welcoming owners made us feel at home.

Tastefully decorated and well set out. Nice walks both starting from the property and a little further afield. Roger our host was great, pre arrival info was very helpful and directions to the property were excellent. The annex was lovely and very comfortable, little touches like the mini fridge and kettle meant we didn't have to get to the main house for our 1st cuppa of the day :o). Would love to visit in the summer and take advantage of the lovely outside seating area and those wonderful views.

Would love to come back and see it all at Christmas a dream of mine to go away for that time of the year. Highly recommend the cottage 100%
