The property is conveniently located in the quiet village of Hoghton, home to one of the country’s major historical sights, Hoghton Tower.  Here James 1st of England and 6th of Scotland once knighted a loin of beef in the great hall.  There is even a local pub (The Sirloin) which takes its name from this piece of history.  Hoghton Tower hosts many local events such as a regular farmer’s market, ghost tours, a classic car show and many major musical events, as well as offering tours of the great hall and an on-site café. 

The area is a popular choice with birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts, with many wildlife reserves close by such as Martin Mere, Leighton Moss, Marshside, Hesketh Out Marsh and Brockholes, which can all be reached within an hour.  The owners, being keen nature enthusiasts themselves, are on hand to offer lots of informa. . .
