Private parking for 4 cars. No smoking. Please Note: Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a lead when outside - there are sheep nearby and the garden is not enclosed/secure.. This detached, 200-year old chocolate box cottage can be found in the heart of the Peak District National Park, within the picturesque village of Ilam. Offering never ending views of the stunning surrounding countryside out of each and every window, it makes for a most wonderful base and benefits from ample off road parking.
Ilam is a quaint village nestled beside the River Manifold on the Staffordshire and Derbyshire border. The village is home to Ilam Park, 158 acres of parkland managed by the National Trust and just perfect for families with gentle riverside walks and a tea room garden. Close by you’ll also find the beautiful Dovedale valley and the Dovedale Stepping Stones, which have been a huge draw for the Peak District since they were laid in the mid-19th century. A plethora of walking and cycling is available for all abilities through stunning scenery, and the quintessential English market town of Ashbourne is just a 15-minute drive away, where you’ll find many pubs, café’s, restaurants and antique shops.
For wonderful day trips many Peak District towns, villages and attractions can be reached within an hour, including Chatsworth House and the ever popular market town of Bakewell. There’s Carsington Water, Matlock, Matlock Bath and the cable car ride up to The Heights of Abraham. Buxton with its famous Opera House and brand new Spa Hotel (2020), or even Britain’s premier theme park Alton Towers! Shop 4½ miles, pub and restaurant 2¼ miles.
