Thistledown Cottage has been lovingly created out of a mellow stone barn which looks out across Wensley Dale in the sleepy little hamlet of Snitterton. Its attractive decoration, comfortable furniture, modern facilities and glowing log burning stove make it a superb cottage to return to at the end of the day.

Snitterton is in a quiet little valley just over the hill from Matlock so you will think you are in the middle of nowhere yet all Derbyshire's attractions are close to hand. If you like walking, wander up Wensley Dale until you find the lovely village of Winster, conquer Stanton Moor to see the 'Nine Ladies Needles', or take an evening stroll by the river to the Square and Compass or Three Stags pubs in Darley Bridge.

But always remember that tomorrow you can visit nearby Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall, Peak Rail's steam trains and the magnificent Matlock Bath gorge. Alternatively take the children to Gulliver's Kingdom, treat the older-ones to Carsington Water adventures and perhaps all of you can revel in nostalgia on Crich's wonderful tramway. In complete contrast drop to 'Oblivion' at Alton Towers.

Cottage facilities:

A lovely beamed lounge with comfortable cottage-style suite, crackling log burning stove, T.V., DVD , Freeview and Wi Fi. A super dining kitchen with pine units and table, hob, oven, microwave, fridge, automatic washer and dishwasher. An attractive upstairs double bedroom with pine furniture and views across the Dale. A downstairs bedroom with twin beds looking over the garden. A bathroom with bath/shower over and W.C.

Linen and towels are provided. Central heating, power and an initial supply of fuel for the stove are included. A cot and high chair can be requested. There is an attractive patio and garden with furniture, adjoining the open fields. Ample parking is available. Bikes can be stored in the nearby barn. Pets and smoking are not permitted. Access for people with disabilities may be difficult.

Weekly bookings are normally Friday to Friday but short breaks are available throughout the year excluding Xmas and New Year.
