Winkhill is a tiny hamlet close to the Peak District National Park, two miles from the village of Waterhouses. Waterhouses has shops, pubs and eateries, and also offers access to the Manifold Trail, a long, flat track along the former railway line, much used by walkers, cyclists and horse riders. The Alton Towers Theme Park is a short drive away, and the rest of the Peak District National Park is on the doorstep.

The cottage was surprisingly very warm, the bedding was lovely, all the furniture was comfy and it was very well equipped with everything you could possible need. Iâd definitely book again

We were a family of 4 adults and a dog. The house had everything you needed for a comfortable, relaxing and enjoyable stay. The views from any point in and around the cottage are amazing. The enclosed garden is safe for dogs and children. You do have to access the garden by going out the front door but not a huge inconvenience. There are sensor lights in both the front and back of the cottage for the evenings when the dog needed to go out. A trip to Ashbourne, Dovedale and Ilam are absolutely recommended. As is Bakewell. Itâs also an excellent location for Alton Towers. The area is great for walking and cycling including the Manifold and Tissington trail and the High Peak. Louise is a wonderful host. Would highly recommend and will certainly return.
