For days out while at the cottage, there are plenty of walking and cycling routes in the immediate area, along country lanes and through the charming surrounding villages. Just a scenic drive away is the pretty Trebarwith Beach, which boasts stunning views of the dramatic coastlines; why not pack a picnic and set off for a day of paddling in the shores, a little further afield will bring you to the ever popular beaches of Rock and Daymar where you can enjoy a true British seaside experience. Heading south from the cottage by car will lead you the stunning Pencarrow House & Garden, a Georgian manor home presenting an array of art and antiques, where you can also stop at the café for lunch and at the plant shop to remember the day with pretty flora and greenery. Venture into the popular town of Bodmin and brush up on your history at the Bodmin Town Museum, or perhaps visit the renowned Bodmin Jail, where you can take part in ghost walks in the 18th century prison. Whatever your perfect adventure is, Lowena is the perfect base for your next family holiday to beautiful Cornwall.

There were/are a few snags to be resolved. Wi-fi is essential at the moment, especially during the pandemic, and this was installed part way through our holiday, this then brought the central heating online. We are not sure that the downstairs bedroom would be good for someone with limited mobility, the en-suite shower room in particular we found tricky to use without spraying the whole room and it then stayed wet all day, the door also needs adjustment to close properly. A freezer would be essential for a larger party planning to eat in and a shower over the bath would also be very useful for a larger group. The owner and housekeeper were very helpful and friendly and quick to respond to any issues. The directions to St Tudy need amending as travel via Camelford from the M5 is much simpler. St Tudy is an ideal base location to explore the area especially once the pub is fully staffed and operating normally.
