About this property

St Breward 1.5 miles. Watermill sits on the edge of Bodmin Moor, surrounded by meadows and woodlands and not far from the River Camel.

Situated perfectly for those wishing to explore the picturesque yet wild Cornish coast, with a name which tells the history of this pretty, slate hung property, Watermill provides an ideal touring base.

The porch leads you into the inviting living area, complete with a woodburner for cosy nights in.

A well equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare a delicious, home cooked meal to enjoy around the large dining table.

Watermill offers three bedrooms; one king size on the ground floor with its own shower. On the first floor you will find two more rooms; one a double and the other with three single beds. These share a family bathroom.

The enclosed lawned garden, complete with picnic bench, can be a great place to sit and plan the days adventures or reminisce over memories already made.

Whether you want to explore rock pools, build sandcastles or just relax with a book, you are spoilt for choice with so many beaches nearby; Trebarwith Strand, Polzeath and Tregardock to name but a few.

You might prefer to take in some sightseeing and visit the TV home of Doc Martin at Port Isaac or venture to Tintagel where the legend of King Arthur abounds. Come inland and visit the former administrative centre of Bodmin and its famous jail, built in 1779 and now part restored as a visitor attraction or maybe enjoy Pencarrow House, a stunning Georgian property used in the past as a film location.

St Breward is a small village set amongst beautiful countryside in Cornwall, about 7 miles from Bodmin. The village offers all the amenities you will require during your stay with a shop, village hall, church, two playgrounds and a pub. A footpath in the village creates a nice circular loop past the holy well, the church and across the River Camel. Nearby, you can also enjoy the Camel Trail which is popular with both walkers and cyclists and winds its way through the town Wadebridge on its journey to the sea at Padstow. On the edge of the town is the fascinating museum and haunting presence of the old Bodmin Jail, which was built from granite excavated from this very quarry back in 1840. Close by are the open spaces and wind swept grandeur of Bodmin Moor while the incomparable Eden Project (11 miles), Falmouth’s National Maritime Museum (30 miles) and the beautiful harbour town of Padstow with its famous pubs and restaurants (16 miles) make for great days out. There is a good choice of country pubs and restaurants in the surrounding area.

Owners were very available and helpful, and replaced the broken washing machine in 24 hours. Cottage was clean and well equipped and cosy. If you want a peaceful quiet getaway then this is ideal. The wifi was very slow and caused a few issues for us to book things from the cottage (it did work but it took me an hour to book tickets for the Eden project). While the cottage was great, and we have no complaints at all it’s worth nothing that water mill cottage is at the bottom of a 20% gradient hill. While the locals don’t think twice about it (it’s Cornwall after all) it can be a challenge if you own an older car or are an anxious driver. Just something we felt potential visitors should know before booking. Very close to the river which is lovely as you can hear it from the cottage.
