About this property

Positioned just paces from the glorious sandy beach in Portreath, The Chace is a homely and well-presented coastal retreat. Set in the heart of this buzzing resort, it offers accommodation over two floors, with a pretty front garden and off-road parking. On the ground floor is an entrance porch for sandy flip-flops and boogie boards, leading into the separate sitting room with mock electric wood burner, comfy sofas and beams. The contemporary kitchen with dining area is ideal for foody gatherings. Patio doors lead out to the courtyard at the rear, which is gated and can be enclosed, with a driveway for one car plus additional space directly at the foot of the garden wall and third parking space in front of the garage (garage not available). The garden table and chairs makes a good spot for sunny nibbles and cream teas. On the first floor, three comfortable bedrooms greet you; a double with king-size bed and TV for duvet watching, twin bedroom and the bunk bedroom. The family bathroom with shower over completes this super seaside haven. Portreath Beach makes a fabulous playground for surfing escapades, swimming and picnics. Walk the stunning coast path to Porthtowan or Godrevy and Gwithian, through nature reserves and sand dunes, having a pit stop at a beachside café. Truro, with its majestic cathedral and retail, cinema and theatre, plus restaurants, bars and pubs is a short drive away. Closer to home, there are beach inns, shops and cafes just paces from The Chace – so you can relax, have fun with that bucket and spade or simply devour a pasty lunch or fish and chip supper aside a picturesque seascape on the north Cornish coast. Tehidy Park is great for cycle rides and dog rambles or tee off a round of golf at the nearby green. Portreath has so much to offer and The Chace is the perfect base for family, friends and couples to enjoy new adventures.

Portreath, with its sheltered harbour, attracts visitors from around the world with its wild and rugged coastline. High cliffs, secluded coves and sandy, surf-washed beaches typify the area while all around are reminders of the area's rich industrial heritage. Portreath offers a small fishing quay, shops, a number of pubs, three cafés and a Chinese restaurant, while its safe, sheltered sandy beach is a popular attraction. For a great day out, visit the cathedral city of Truro with its cobbled streets, shopping centre, theatre, museum and great restaurants, just 14 miles away, or travel a few miles along the coast and follow the vast expanse of sandy beach, which leads down to Hayle and on to St Ives.

Access to coastal path and mining trails easy. Lots of cafes and a few shops nearby. House had everything we needed, welcomed with provisions for a cream tea. More than enough equipment in the kitchen to be able to cater for ourselves. Fridge is small with tiny, slightly iced up freezer section, but we managed. Warm and cosy, especially as weather was so mild, beds are lovely. Great place to explore south west Cornwall.

On this occasion not so much, the cleaning was definitely below the standard of previous times we have been. It was very dusty behind the sofas, TV in the lounge and bedroom. The plug sockets and door in lounge was not cleaned. Generally the house smells really damp and was extremely cold when we arrived. Once we cleaned and warmed the house we did enjoy our stay. In my opinion I think the property could do with updating and a dishwasher and under counter freezer added. The freezer compartment of the fridge is totally inadequate for a stay for six people. Especially when it is all iced up in side. Which it was when we tried to use it. For the above reasons I am not sure I will return to The Chace next year ☹️
