It sits in a hamlet just outside the village of St Ewe with its excellent local pub and ancient church. The absolutely stunning Lost Gardens of Heligan, a Victorian lost garden now lovingly restored, is 20 minutes’ walk away and has a local farm shop for all you need, as well as a great café for lunch or breakfast. There is plenty to see including the nearby village of Mevagissey which centres around a pretty working harbour with narrow lanes full of shops, cafés and restaurants, along with some great pubs. You can book some sea fishing direct from the harbour or catch a ferry across to Fowey right at the other side of St Austell Bay.
There are many beaches just minutes from Trelean Vean Cottage, including the outstanding Pentewan beach sitting at the bottom of a wooden valley which has ancient woodland and an off-road cycling or walking trail leading all the way back to St Austell. Gorran Haven, with its large sandy beach, is the perfect place to while away a sunny day and has all you need for the perfect beach holiday, including rock pools and a beach café. The south Cornwall coastline is dotted with secret sandy coves and pretty little secluded beaches all waiting to be explored.
The world class Eden Project is simply a must and is surrounded by walking and cycling trails. Golf, horse riding, surfing, sailing, health spas and scuba diving are all available locally. Beach 2½ miles. Shop 1 mile, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
