A public footpath from the property, only 250 yards away, leads you on to part of the South West Coast Path that will lead you to the beautiful town of Looe, or to the seaside area of Seaton. Close by is Millendreath Beach and also Plaidy Beach, where you can hire kayaks and paddle-boards, explore the rock-pools at low tide or just sit back and relax.

The seaside town of Looe can be reached by the coastal path or just a short drive away. The long harbour wall stretches up to the Victorian bridge, where you can take a trip over to Looe Island, you may even be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the grey seal colony. Relax on the sandy beach in Looe, paddle in the sea or roam around the shops, museums and galleries. The locally renowned fish market sells fish straight off the boats from the harbour, so you can pick up something for a special dinner. The bays of Talland, Whitsand and Lantic offer paddling and bathing against the stunning scenery of the dramatic backdrop that is the south coast of Cornwall.

Deep sea fishing and other water sports can all be enjoyed in Looe, along with woodland and coastal walks nearby. To the east of Looe is the historic city of Plymouth, with its National Marine Aquarium, theatres, cinemas, bowling and shopping.

Down the road from Looe is the historic fishing village of Polperro with its winding streets, once a thriving centre for smugglers. The pretty village cottages are perched on steep slopes overlooking the harbour. Sample some local produce in one of the many cafés and restaurants Polperro has to offer, or head to the inner harbour, still a working harbour to this day and full of colourful boats.

There is so much to see and do, not only around the local area but further afield. Visit the famous Eden Project and the Lost Gardens of Heligan, both within a 40-50 minute drive. The seafaring ports of Charlestown, famous for the filming of ‘Poldark’, Fowey, renowned for its annual Royal Regatta during August and literary and arts festivals, including the Daphne Du Maurier festival in May, and Mevagissey, the pretty working harbour full of Cornish charm, are all within this area.

Should you wish to venture further afield, Cornwall’s capital, Truro, has an impressive cathedral and many things to do for all ages. Padstow, St Ives and Port Isaac are all within reach by car. Beautiful beaches, fishing villages, coastal walks, cycling, fishing, golf, horse riding and a plethora of National Trust properties and grounds are all on the doorstep of this lovely cottage.
