About this property

Set in a small cluster of stone built barns that surround a central courtyard, Sundowner is a stylish and beautiful home from home, situated just a 10 minute drive equidistant from the picturesque harbour village of Padstow and the market town of Wadebridge. A combination of slate and oak flooring with some beams give this property character and the standard of accommodation is high. Entrance is from the courtyard and into the large open plan living area with distinct areas for kitchen, dining and lounging. The sitting area has ample comfortable seating arranged around the wood burning stove and has access to the rear garden. The dining area overlooks the central courtyard and the well-equipped modern kitchen also has access to the rear garden. The main living areas are divided by a useful utility room and cloakroom. The broad oak staircase leads to the first floor landing and on to a snug area, perfect to relax with a good book! Two bright and sunny bedrooms, one with a king size bed and the other with twin beds (zip and link to 6' super king on request) and TV, both have en-suite facilities and high quality coordinated linens. There is underfloor heating throughout both floors. Outside is a large level and fenced garden which extends around two sides of the property with paved patios enjoying peaceful rural views. There is parking for 2 cars and a locked store provided for beach gear, bicycles and drying of wetsuits. The surrounding area gives opportunity for accessing many popular pursuits. The seven bays of Trevone, Treyarnon, Harlyn, Constantine, Mother Ivy's, Booby's and Porthcothan are close by for glorious days on the beach, swimming, surfing or dozing in the sun. The coastal path and Camel trail offers walkers and cyclists magnificent views of cliffs and ocean. For children the Camel Creek Adventure Park (formerly Crealy's) is a few minutes away, all going to make Sundowner a fabulous holiday retreat you will want to return to again and again.

Padstow is a working fishing port at the head of the Camel River and it is a great base for exploring Cornwall. The pretty harbour is surrounded by popular restaurants and is one of Cornwall’s iconic foodie destinations. Excellent surfing beaches are on your doorstep as is the popular Camel Cycle Trail.

The house had everything we needed including every possible thing you might need which made it feel more like a home from home than any other property we have stayed at. The property was a short drive to Padstow and very easy to access all the places we wanted to visit. Thank you, we had a great time.

Great garden for the dog and kids. Beds are very uncomfortable and need an upgrade, the sofa isn’t comfortable either. Also too many instructions and signs telling you what to do!

Pros: The house had plenty of space for the kids to play. The bedrooms were spacious. There was plenty of equipment in the kitchen. Lovely sunset views. Good location. Quiet location as long as the neighbours are quiet too - the property is part of a group of 4 that surrounds a courtyard. Cons: The house was full of black dog hair, which we were told was from the previous occupants. It wasn't obvious at first, but all week we were finding it in our clothes, beds, food, our kids' blankets and teddies etc. There was also a pervasive smell of dog. We didn't realise the property was dog friendly (it's not something we would normally check for) and maybe this level of uncleanliness is to be expected in such a property, but that will be something we keep an eye out for in future bookings elsewhere. Not much space in the kitchen cupboards to store our food and other bits and bobs. The parking space isn't right at the front, so carrying our stuff back and forth was awkward. Improvement ideas: restrictors on the windows would help occupants with kids feel safe enough to have the bedroom windows open on a warm night, darker curtains in the twin room to block out the sunlight - we hung blankets over the curtains to act as black-out curtains, clear some superfluous equipment out of the kitchen to provide more storage space.
