About this property

Drewsteignton 2 miles. Sitting on the fringes of the dramatic landscape of the Dartmoor National Park is Little Torr, a spacious studio-style accommodation, a short distance from the pretty village of Drewsteignton. With its generous open-plan layout, this is a rare find for avid ramblers, solo travellers and romantics to call home, as they enjoy the delights of this part of West Devon. Enter into the light-filled space, where the high vaulted ceilings are a striking element to this perfectly portioned room, as are the exposed beams, which seamlessly complement the contemporary furnishings and add a touch of charm. At the end of a bracing day on the Dartmoor hills, look forward to reclining into the sofa and flicking on the Smart TV, before stepping into the well-equipped kitchen, where a range of appliances are on hand for cooking up tasty dishes. The dining table makes a sociable spot for enjoying the company of your partner over meals and drinks, as well as pulling open the map to plan the next day’s adventure. Concluding the interior is the sumptuous king-size bed, complete with a plush duvet to curl under as you decadently tune into the TV, which is hidden in the footboard of the bed itself. The garden at Little Torr is equally as impressive, with wonderful long views and boasting a large manicured lawn with chairs to gather around the barbecue as something tasty sizzles during a balmy afternoon. You'll find a handful of amenities within the nearby village of Drewsteignton, comprising of a good food pub and some of the best walks in Devon. The National Trusts Castle Drogo has beautiful grounds and gardens as well as interesting modern day castle to explore. Nearby Chagford offers boutique style shops, and more places to eat and drink and in the summer months, a river fed swimming pool. Further afield, visit the ruins of the picturesque Okehampton Castle, which enjoys an elevated position above woodland walks where the West Okement River runs. Avid ramblers can access two castle trails from the town, as well as the Tarka Trail, Granite Way and the West Devon Way to Plymouth, whilst other outdoor action can be found in the form of wild swimming in the rivers, practicing your swing at the town's golf course or meandering around the beautiful Simmons Park in the centre of town. More walks can be found upon the Dartmoor National Park, where you can enjoy the varied landscape of moorland and ancient woodland before reaching one of the famous Tors landmarks. Other local attractions include visiting the National Trust owned Finch Foundry to explore its scenic garden or discovering the beauty of the Canonteign Falls. Bring your partner to Little Torr to enjoy an action-packed getaway.

Drewsteignton sits high above the River Teign as it meanders through a spectacular steep wooded Teign Gorge. It is a chocolate box village with a cluster of ancient cob and thatched cottages surrounding a square, complete with shop, ancient church, restaurant and very pretty pub.

Everything about the accommodation was perfect and it was a pleasure to return after my days exploring, a very cosy and comfortable place to stay. I only had one chance to enjoy the garden with the weather but it is so peaceful. The location was perfect, easy access to the moors and further afield and I can guarantee you won’t hear any traffic! Thank you Jo for your hospitality and wonderful treats too.

Perfect for rest, relaxation and tranquility. Amazing location tucked away in a quiet corner of Devon but close enough to main routes for exploring the area. Jo and Pete (and the dogs) were fantastic and welcoming hosts. We look forward to paying another visit sometime in the future. Can't rate this place highly enough!

The garden area was very nice, and the place was indeed like a sanctuary that made for a very peaceful and enjoyable stay. The Owner Jo was so helpful and made me feel so welcome. The cottage is ideally situated to get directly onto the moors or onto a road to visit a nearby town. Just perfect and a wonderful stay.
