Ford Gate is a cosy and comfortable single storey wing of the owners detached home in the village of Bishops Tawton. Although conveniently close to all the amenities of the market town of Barnstaple, Ford Gate gives the impression of being deep in the countryside as it is surrounded by over an acre of mature gardens, trees and hedgerows. Picturesque walks through the woodland to the stream begin on the doorstep. Barnstaple, with its many shops, cafes and restaurants, was once a thriving port and its fascinating history is well-documented in the town's museum. The big surfing beach and seaside town of Westward Ho! is within a half hour's drive of the property and Saunton, Croyde and Woolacombe a similar distance away on the other side of the river. The nearby pretty villages of Appledore and Instow are ideal for browsing and the gardens at RHS Rosemoor are stunning whatever the season and well worth a visit.  Ford Gate is an ideal base for exploring the North Devon area. An attractive beamed lounge opens through to a cottage-style kitchen/diner and a glazed door leads outside.The spacious bedroom is just a few steps up from the lounge has an en-suite bathroom and lovely views over the gardens.  There is a patio with seating offering a peaceful, lovely spot to contemplate the delightful gardens and countryside beyond.
