From here you can find the ground-floor bathroom, home to a corner bath and shower attachment for a calming soak after a day of walking. Head upstairs to the heart of the home on the first floor, gather in the evening to watch a DVD in the sitting area after a sit-down meal at the dining table, amidst the many period features retained. An ample-sized kitchen hosting all you need for a self-catered stay, including a gas hob and electric oven and even a handy dishwasher, leads to the outdoor patio area, with further steps leading to a larger decking, an ideal spot to enjoy the afternoon sun and take in the views of Hillsborough. Discover the lovely two bedrooms on the second floor, composing of twin beds that can be set as a king size bed on request, and a generous double bedroom, along with a shower room on this floor too. Throughout you will find artwork displayed, the majority of which is from local artists and has been bought from the many art and craft shops and small galleries dotted around Ilfracombe. Visit the Ilfracombe Aquarium which offers local fish exhibits, feeding demonstrations and has a café and gift shop. Ilfracombe is a lively coastal town on a lovely stretch of North Devon coastline with five beaches, the most of which is held by the National Trust. Exmoor National Park, with its undulating scenery and picturesque settlements, is only a ten-minute drive from Ilfracombe. The ancient harbour and quay in Ilfracombe are stunning, with numerous bars, shops, and restaurants, as well as frequent live music, creating a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere. Take a wildlife cruise, fishing trip, or boat tour from here to picturesque Lundy Island, a natural wonderland that will give you with a unique experience. Ilfracombe is the starting point for several of England's best walking trails.

However we did have problems opening and keeping open the windows in the living room and bedrooms. We picked a very warm week and this was very frustrating. Apart from that we had an instance when a handle came off a cupboard that had clearly been damaged before. One final thing I lost a pair of glasses and wondered if they had been found? All things considered we hope to book again next year.

Very well equipped and in a brilliant location within the town. The place was very clean. Beds were comfortable. Plenty of games, dvds and jigsaws for bad weather. The Xbox was a lovely touch although we found this affected the signal of the lounge tv if both were on at the same time. We would definitely recommend Harbour cottage and would choose to stay here again if we were in the area.

Great location and the cottage had a well equipped kitchen. The garden is a nice feature and is sunny until the end of the day. However the main bathroom being on the ground floor, while the bedrooms are on the second floor is not ideal. We had the second bedroom set up as a twin room. The room is tiny, you can barely walk around the beds and neither of us could unpack as there was not sufficient storage. The twin beds were incredibly narrow (about the width of a pillow) but the quilts were single size and kept falling off during the night. The ground floor bathroom has no ventilation so it was very steamy and musty. The cottage is nicely decorated and has attractive artwork. Being a cottage there are lots of stairs, so it would not suit elderly people or families with young children. I would recommend the cottage for couples. The proximity to local shops, pubs and the harbour is one of the best things about the property.
