Burton Farm Barns are located on a working sheep and arable farm in the beautiful South Devon countryside in Galmpton, just a 30-minute walk from the picturesque village of Hope Cove with sandy beaches and on the South West Coastal Path. It offers two local pubs which are both situated on the water, and a Post Office/village shop. Formally part of the old barns on the farm, which consisted of The Mill House (ref UK10785), The Piggery (ref UK10786), The Stables (ref UK10788) and The Hayloft (refs UK10787), they have been lovingly restored and refurbished in 2017. They are modern but still retain their charm, plus a few luxuries! All have underfloor heating and wood burners making this ideal for year round holidays. Originally built in the late 1700s, they are set within the farmstead amid 325 acres that make up Burton Farm. The farm grows various crops and cereals along with breeding three pedigree, award-winning flocks of sheep. Visitors are welcome to visit the sheep shed and sometimes able to feed the lambs (by arrangement with owner). Look out for Gert and George, the resident geese, and sit and watch the eight runner ducks which are all so amusing. There is a shared barbecue area in the orchard, a large garden and a children’s play area.

The South Hams, with lush rolling countryside and stunning beaches has plenty of things to do come rain or shine. Burton Farm Barns are located within the South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, just over 3 miles from the beautiful coastal town of Salcombe, sitting on the banks of the Salcombe Estuary making it one of the prettiest in South Devon. Perfect for all beach and water activities and well known as a centre for sailing. During the summer months the town celebrates with fairs, festivals and regattas along with “Crab Fest” which draws celebrity chefs to the town to celebrate its delicious seafood.

Approximately 5 miles in the opposite direction lies the estuary town of Kingsbridge. Once a busy market town, Kingsbridge still supports many independent retailers and offers a variety of shops to browse. The Farmers Market visits the quay monthly and offers a large selection of locally grown produce. Kingsbridge has retained many of its historic buildings and visitors can peek into the past with a visit to Cookworthy Museum. During the summer you can take a ride along the estuary wall on the small steam train, take a boat trip to Salcombe or just enjoy one of the many restaurants or coffee shops.

Dartmouth is not too far away with its famous Navel College, castles and abundance of shops. Take a trip on the steam train from Dartmouth to Paignton, which is such a magical journey. The captivating market town of Totnes has a reputation for having an alternative vibeand nestles in rolling hills on the stunning River Dart. There are many notable buildings and monuments in the town, including the museum. They are all guarded by the classic Norman motte and bailey of Totnes Castle, which has commanding views of the Dart Valley. There is a main line train station which is the nearest to Kingsbridge, and the two towns are linked by a regular bus service. A vibrant and bustling market is held in the Market Square every Friday and Saturday throughout the year.

Enjoy visiting the many wonderful beaches on the South Devon Coastline, Thurlestone with its surf school, Salcombe boating and sailing, Bantham, wind surfing, Bigbury with its famous landmark of Burgh Island and “sea tractor” plus many more, explore and find your favourite one! There are so many amazing places to visit in this beautiful part of South Devon. Beach 1 mile. Shop, pubs and restaurants 1 mile.
