This detached single-storey cottage is situated in Bondleigh hamlet two miles from North Tawton. In a secluded setting with lovely views yet with easy access, it is a brilliant base for forgetting your worries and exploring Devon. When you step indoors you will be struck by the carefully restored original features such as stripped wood floors combined with modern comfort. From the neat slate-floored kitchen with its old fashioned pantry, and induction cooker, head through to the dining room where the original range has been preserved as a nostalgic feature. Whilst you eat, you can admire views across countryside and the Taw Valley to the hills of Dartmoor. The living room has the open fire you would wish for in this timeless spot, complemented by an up to date music system and TV or entertainment. Sweet dreams end the day in the three comfortable bedrooms with little to disturb a peaceful night. An enclosed garden surrounds the cottage, a quiet place to sit with a good book on the terrace or stretch out on the lawn. North Tawton is a good practical town with a range of shops and pubs and a scrumptious fish and chip shop, or head into Okehampton, slightly bigger and with cinema and leisure centre. A walk or cycle ride on the car-free Tarka Trail is a must or take your boards to the surf beaches at Saunton Sands and Bude. With its central location, Hedgelea is a smashing cottage for a holiday to unwind.
The charming country town of North Tawton quietly rests amidst lush green fields, high hedgerows and winding lanes, just eight miles north of historic Okehampton. Nestling between the high, rugged tors of Dartmoor and the wide sandy beaches and rolling surf of the North Devon coast, this delightful town boasts picturesque thatched cottages and quaint pubs. The surrounding countryside is ideal for walking and cycling, with many pretty little villages dotted throughout the area, and several excellent coarse fishing lakes and rivers, quality golf courses, and a number of National Trust properties within easy reach.
