About these Country Cottages & Lodges

Lancombe Country Cottages and Lodges sit in the heart of Dorset's Thomas Hardy Country.  Lancombe is a unique rural site with facilities including an indoor heated swimming pool open all year and relaxing woodland walks.  It's the perfect base for a short break or holiday for families, couples or groups.  Alongside a selection of beautifully presented cottages and lodges, several character Shepherd's Huts are available.  Dorchester is only 8 miles away and West Bay on the coast is only 12 miles away.

Children of all ages are very welcome and there are spacious grounds ideal for play and woodland walks.  Explore the nearby Jurassic Coast with spectacular beaches and coastal walking.  We also accept well behaved dogs by prior arrangement with bowls, a bed and plenty of dog exercising space provided.

Accommodation

Self-catering accommodation is situated within extensive grounds and each cottage, lodge and Shepherd's Hut is tastefully decorated to the highest standard with great holiday essentials including free WiFi, a collection of books, games and DVDs, outdoor terraces, bed linen and family facilities including cots and highchairs.

Cottages - Sleep 2-6

Six holiday cottages overlooking the walled landscaped courtyard on one side and woodland on the other.  

All cottages are built from traditional flint and brick.

Open plan living space with lounges, fitted kitchens and dining areas.

Cosy outdoor patio areas with rural views.

Cottages range from cosy romantic retreats for two with a four poster bed to family friendly 3 bed cottages with bunk bedrooms.

Lodges

Three lodges includes Axe sleeping 2, Wey sleeping 4 plus a cot, and Broad Lodge sleeping 6 plus a cot.

The lodges are all on one level set a little further back from the courtyard on the edge of a woodland area.

All three are furnished to a very high standard with light, airy and spacious interiors.

Large decked terraces include outdoor furniture and have fantastic country views.

Shepherd's Huts

Four stylish Shepherd's Huts are available each sleeping 4 (maximum 3 adults), ideal for couples, a small group and families.

The huts are unsuitable for children under 2 years and cots.

Huts sit in a quiet location in the corner of the meadow and woodland.

All huts have their own kitchenette, shower and wc.

Site Facilities

We have plenty of facilities at Lancombe with something to suit all ages.  Enjoy a leisurely dip in the indoor heated pool open all year round or relax in the sauna.  We can also arrange for pamper treatments during your stay at our spa.  Beauty treatments and massages can be arranged in the comfort of your own accommodation on request.

There is also a games room and the grounds include a woodland walk, meadow, an orchard and extensive gardens.  Several herb gardens are dotted about the grounds and guests are welcome to help themselves for use in cooking!  For those guests bringing their pets, an exercise area for dogs is also available.

For your convenience, we have an onsite shop selling lots of local produce, a reception area and a large outdoor exercise area for the family dog.  Other facilities include a communal BBQ area, laundry facilities and freezer space.

Other Things to Note

Fun things for children include big gardens perfect for playing hide and seek or tag in.  Children can see if they can find the fairies in the woodland, help feed the chickens or chill out in the games room.

Themed treats and activities are organised during seasonal celebrations such as Easter, Christmas and Halloween.

Lancombe is a paradise for dogs featuring dog exercising areas, pet friendly pubs nearby and fabulous pooch friendly coast and country walks in the local area.  See our website for a great list of dog friendly beaches and attractions nearby.

Around and About

The beautiful Dorset coast can be found just twelve miles from Lancombe.  Visit West Bay which was the setting for the TV drama 'Broadchurch' or head a little further along the coast to visit Abbotsbury and Weymouth.  The local area contains a host of attractive villages and towns in 'Thomas Hardy' Country including Beaminster and Cerne Abbas.  Popular Dorchester attractions nearby include the Dinosaur Museum.
