No smoking.. The Mount is a 230 year old house dating originally from the Georgian era, with early Victoria embellishment. Hazelwood is an apartment situated within one with of The Mount, and the owners are in the other wing. From both your bedroom and private kitchen/dining room you look across the lovely large walled garden to open countryside. The charm of this gorgeous apartment is that you are enjoying a totally tranquil setting with sun and light, and yet within a 5-minute flat walk, you find yourself in the medieval market square and buttercross.
Somerton boasts a great range of places to eat, including three pubs, two cafés and fine dining experiences. Takeaways nearby also include Indian, Chinese and fish and chips. This thriving village also has two bakeries, a quality butcher, a health food shop, stationer, wine shop, shoe shop, fruiterer, post office, library, pharmacy, supermarket, ice cream parlour, an antiques emporium and several hair salons
The location of The Mount is a perfect base for sightseeing; the iconic Glastonbury Tor, the spectacular 13th-century Wells Cathedral and Bishops Palace with its moat, and a short drive takes you to several National Trust properties. Also nearby you can find Lytes Cary Manor, 5 minutes, Barrington Court, 15 minutes, and Montacute, 15 minutes. Half an hour away is Stourhead, set in 200 acres of lakes framed by monuments and temples, a must-see. The Hanging Chapel in Langport is 10 minutes away, as is the Fleet Air Arm museum and Haynes International Motor Museum. The World Horse Welfare is a free day out at the Glenda Spooner Farm in Somerton. And don’t forget the 90 designer and outlet shops in Clarks Village, 12 minutes away, Cheddar Gorge and caves, 45 minutes, and Bath Bristol and Exeter cities, all within an easy drive of an hour or so.
