Idyllically positioned amongst substantial gardens on the outskirts of the pint-sized village of Gastard near Corsham, in the sought-after county of Wiltshire, rests this remarkable stone-built holiday home, 9 Velley Hill. Set across three floors and sleeping up to thirteen guests, 9 Valley Hill adds a touch of character to a group celebration to the countryside. Journey along the private driveway and park up at the foot of this remarkable dwelling, marvelling at the striking tower that adorns the charming stone-built exterior, before unloading your bags and making your way inside. Kick off your shoes as you enter the snug sitting room, thoughtfully laid out with a traditional décor of exposed wooden beams and a rustic woodburning stove, providing a lovely spot to put your feet up and unwind in front of the television following a day full of adventure. Follow the wooden flooring through to the open-plan kitchen/diner tucked away at the rear of the property, well-equipped with a range of fantastic facilities to assist with your self-catering needs, including an electric oven and induction hob, along with a dishwasher to ensure cleaning up is a breeze! Adjoining the kitchen lies a large utility room, offering laundry facilities as well as a handy shower room with a fold-down seat, ideal for guests with limited mobility. When nourishing meals have been prepared, gather together with a handful of guests at the dining table taking centre stage in the sociable space, or step through to the bright and airy conservatory to indulge in your culinary delights, backed by the peaceful views of the lawned garden. Throw open the elegant bi-fold doors and carry the conversation outdoors with a seat amongst the greenery of the generous garden, where you can soak in the last of the evening sun with your favourite tipple as the little ones run off some steam with a ball game on the spacious lawn or end each day in style with a luxurious seat in the bubbling hot tub. As the evening draws to a close, discover a well-presented double bedroom nestled on the ground floor, accessed via a ramp out of convenience for guests with limited mobility, and a separate ground-floor shower room . Travel up the first set of stairs to find four further bedrooms and finally up on the second floor you will find the tower where there are two further bedrooms. In the morning, relish a refreshing rinse in the shower room, or opt for an indulgent soak amongst the bubbles before heading out to explore your delightful countryside surroundings. When you fancy a night off from doing the cooking, gather your guests and take the short stroll to the nearby pub, the Harp & Crown, serving delicious homecooked vegan goods prepared with seasonal ingredients alongside a fabulous selection of ales. For a wider selection of amenities, take the short journey to the market town of Corsham, famed as the backdrop of the popular TV series Poldark, where you can enjoy a spot of traditional pub grub at The Flemish Weaver, or an indulgent slice of cake at the Grounded Corsham. Whilst you're in the area, be sure to tour the historic estate of Corsham Court, idyllically positioned within a park designed by Capability Brown. Take advantage of the close proximity to the Cotswold's, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where a plethora of walking, cycling and hiking trails journey through the unspoilt scenery, quaint villages and historic landmarks. Jump in the car and spend the day exploring the city of Bath, where you can immerse yourself in local history with a tour of the Roman bathhouse and temple, discover the sights aboard a City Sightseeing bus, or marvel at the remarkable Victorian Gothic architecture of Bath Abbey. With all of this and more, be sure to choose 9 Velley Hill as a base for your next countryside retreat.

The property had everything we needed for the weekend and was clean overall. The shower pressure was good and beds comfy. What made the property for us was the conservatory with the large table which gave us the space to have dinner together and spend time together - this is where we spent most of our time during our visit.

There were cobwebs everywhere. No wood for the wood burners, told afterwards wood in the shed, what shed?? 5 of our party have become ill after using the jacuzzi, we are raking legal advice for next steps. Avoid this property at all costs. Sykes seem happy to pass on all any any liability to owners, owners appear not to care.

Lots of room for us to all hang out. The main problem was a dreadful smell in the downstairs bedroom, which did not get better even with the window left open. It was a very unpleasant room to sleep in for one of our party.
