It is located just 1 mile from the pretty unspoiled village of Dumbleton which is easily accessible by road or footpath and 5 miles from picturesque village of Broadway, the incredibly popular “capital” of the Cotswolds. Poplar cottage is surrounded by 58 acres of working farmland with ridge and furrow rolling down to the river Isbourne which lies 150m away. Visitors are welcome to walk in the fields surrounding the farm and many public footpaths run nearby. Cottage is a very tastefully converted 150-year-old detached barn, it is a comfortable cottage which is well equipped and furnished to a high standard. Cool in summer warm and welcoming in winter, it is centrally heated and well insulated. Poplar cottage has its own individual character with many original features, and electric fire, farmhouse style kitchen and two bedrooms, it also boasts its own area of garden and patio, a perfect place to relax overlooking the farmland. The Cottage is ideally situated for walking and touring the Cotswolds. Broadway, with its old stone houses and fascinating shops also Broadway Tower which is the centre of a country Park and home to an observatory and exhibition. Evesham, the medieval market town, is just 5 miles away. Tree lined pathways along the River Avon are ideal for walking and picnicking. Only a few minutes’ drive on the edge of the Cotswold hills is Toddington where visitors can board a train on the Gloucestershire Warwickshire great Western Railway (GWSR) and travel to Broadway and Cheltenham, (open March through to October). In nearby Winchcombe you will find Sudeley Castle which home to Henry VIII, stroll around the gardens or be transported back in time visiting the castle itself. Within 30 minutes' drive you will find an array of places to visit including Adam Henson’s Cotswold farm park with, it's rare breeds of animals, the bird sanctuary at Bourton on the water. Easily reached as a Stanway house and water fountain, Hidcote Gardens, Snowshill Manor, Batsford Arboretum as well as the spa town of Cheltenham and slightly further away is the medieval Stratford upon Avon, and the cathedral city of Worcester. You will find a fantastic selection of local pubs and restaurants and take aways within the surrounding villages, activities including horse riding, swimming golf, tennis, watersports and fishing are all close by.
A historic riverside town located on the confluence of the River Severn and Avon, retaining medieval character with an abundance of half timbered Tudor buildings. Tewkesbury is renowned as having one of the best medieval Black and White townscapes in the country, boasting over 350 listed buildings of historic interest set in a conservation area. The town has a stunning 12th century abbey with the highest Norman tower in England, several museums, a Heritage Centre as well as a plethora of individual shops, tea rooms, restaurants, pubs and wine bars. The town plays host to country and farmers' markets, musical events and Vintage and Food Fairs throughout the year. Many lovely walks can be enjoyed from the town with both the Severn Way and Shakespeare's Avon Way running close by. Nearby the regency spa town of Cheltenham, boasts historic Georgian architecture and an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants, pubs and visitor attractions. Other festivals in this vibrant town cover literature, jazz, science, cricket, food and drink and comedy to name but a few! The racecourse plays host to the annual, world famous Gold Cup races, as well as numerous other horse racing events throughout the year. The historic city of Gloucester offers Roman foundations, Victorian Docklands and a magnificent Norman cathedral, whose cloisters where used as a location in the Harry Potter films, plus a bustling city centre. The magnificent Royal Forest of Dean, Slimbridge Wetland Centre, the beautiful World Heritage city of Bath, Shakespeare's birthplace of Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and many unspoilt Cotswold towns and villages all make for a great day out.
