Abbots Bromley is perhaps best known for the Horn dance; an annual quintessentially English folk dance dating back to the Middle Ages. Seven miles away is Lichfield cathedral city, with ample wonderful dining out opportunities and fantastic markets where you can pick up local produce, should you wish to cook at home instead. Famed for its three spired cathedral and profuse Georgian architecture. Lichfield is very popular with tourists and provides a gateway into the Cannock Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, where you can visit the stately home of the National Trust’s Shugborough Estate. Enjoy an adventure day out, swinging through the treetops at Go Ape Cannock, plus enjoy a multitude of stunning walking and cycling trails, as well as many outdoor activities through forest, parkland and elevated heaths. Join the Staffordshire Way, which spans the length of the county for 92 miles and even links to the Cheshire Gritstone Trail, the Heart of England Way and the North Worcestershire Path and enjoy walking by the water at the very nearby Blithfield Reservoir which is a haven for wildlife and spans some 800 acres.
The market town of Ashbourne is slightly further afield, with excellent shopping and dining out opportunities, as well as historical buildings. Positioned near the southern edge of the Peak District, Ashbourne is the closet town to Dovedale which is a renowned beauty spot. With all this fantastic walking and sight-seeing opportunities available to you straight from the door step, as well as golf and fishing nearby, The Coach House is the perfect place for your next Staffordshire getaway.
